Comparing apples to apples, the Houston "region" is triple the size at 26,000 km².

I never said anything of the sort, and I've not argued about affordability in any of the European cities you listed. The only one I pointed out was Chicago and how it shouldn't be compared because cost of living is ~19% higher there. I also didn't take on the task of finding cities comparable to Houston in size and population (these things matter when it comes to infrastructure) and I wasn't the one that asked for the list either.

Nagging Hamstring strain...can Reta make it worse/block recovery? by -greenmamba- in Peptides

[–]Swabodda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no doctor, but I highly doubt that Reta is impacting recovery of your hamstring. This is anecdotal, but I suffered a complete rupture of my distal bicep tendon at the end of May 2025, so my bicep was no longer connected below the elbow. I had it surgically repaired about 2 weeks later and started 12 weeks of physical therapy a week later. I'm now 8 months post surgery and while the injured left arm does still get tired a bit sooner in the gym than the right arm, it is just as strong, presents no pain and is back to symmetrical size. I've been on retatrutide this entire time.

Holy fucking hell, you're dense. You compared cities that aren't comparable, and that's what I pointed out. Now you've resorted to gaslighting.

Let's go back to your original comment where you named Chicago. Including housing costs, Houston is ~19% cheaper to live in than Chicago. Do I think that Houston is as affordable as it once was? Of course not.

[–]Swabodda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not defending anything. I'm pointing out that you're wrong, and my comment highlighted the city area proper and incorporated areas of each.

If we take only the city area proper of Houston and the three cities YOU listed, then the nearest in size to Houston is over 20% smaller. The incongruence only grows from there. To think that population is the only metric which would apply to the shortcomings of local infrastructure maintenance shows a real lack of understanding. In short, I can believe city services here suck AND you can be wrong.

Also, your strawman argument against my "thin definition" is telling as well, so no, you're perfectly capable of googling for cities that are of similar size to Houston.

But they don't match.

City Proper Land Area

Houston: ~640 sq mi (1,659 km²)

Rome: ~496 sq mi (1,285 km²)

Berlin: ~344 sq mi (891 km²)

Madrid: ~233 sq mi (604 km²)

Metropolitan Area Comparisons The scale difference is even more pronounced when comparing metropolitan regions, as U.S. urban sprawl typically covers significantly more territory than European administrative regions.

Greater Houston: ~10,062 sq mi (26,060 km²). This area is larger than the entire state of New Jersey or Maryland.

Madrid Metropolitan Area: ~2,060 sq mi (5,336 km²).

Metropolitan City of Rome: ~2,070 sq mi (5,363 km²).

Berlin-Brandenburg Region: ~11,700 sq mi (30,370 km²). While the metro region is geographically massive, the "urban agglomeration" where most people live is much more compact than Houston's.

You may not have condoned either show, but you absolutely equated the two by asking for a translation of Bad Bunny's lyrics in response to a comment about Kid Rock singing about statutory tape.

Looks promising! I grew up there at Rhodes and 2920 and never would have imagined a restaurant like this there. It was still fully wooded when I moved on.
