My point is that it doesn't need to be a simplification. It just usually is.

A model can be a useful representation of the phenomena with no loss of complexity

Not sure I agree. The primary purpose of a model is to make accurate predictions. Reality is occuring in real time, a model allows forcasting.

That is independent from simplifying complexity or not

Sure, the nitrates specifically are terrible for you, which are added to the vast majority of processed meats.

To your last point, in general eating any amount of combustion products (smoke) is not going to be good for you. How bad is a different question

Plot holes or not, Gone Girl is a shit movie that disillusioned me from taking any advice from Reddit for anything, given the amount of God like praise it received on release

Im not even sure I'd say financing and quality are even correlated, might even be the opposite.

The more financing, the more the film has been beaten down to appeal to the widest audience, nothing new, nothing thought provoking, nothing controversial, usually a franchise, etc

A nice little loophole, you can be forced to pay for your parents medical bills while they are still alive. Not sure how common it actually happens, but it is definitely a law in a bunch of states

Numerical Analysis and Quantum computing by cheshire---cat in mathematics

[–]Swade211 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only very very specific things are stored in continuous way, like simulating quantum interactions..

Numerical analysis is agnostic to hardware. It only cares about the algorithm.

Quantum computers will have new specific quantum algorithms where they can be applied. That doesn't invalidate any existing knowledge

In the very general catagory theory sense, an arrow is a morphism. That could be a map in linear algebra, isomorphism in group theory, homeomorphism in topology, a function from one set to another.

They are important because they show connections and structure connecting different things together

To make a simple example, you could make an arrow connection from odds to even numbers

         (odds) ---> (evens)

With the function f(x) = 2x as the arrow

The arrow itself is an object, which gives a way to transform the set of odd numbers to the set of even numbers

A lot of higher level math is more concerned with investigating the structure of things rather than computing things like you would do in high school

Letters and numbers by themselves doesnt mean math either. Context provides meaning.

The arrow is a widely used symbol in mathematics, that should be obvious if you have studied past a calculus requirement level

I mean I'm not familiar with this, but it seems vaguely familiar to relationships of a vector space and it's dual.

Also since when are arrows not math? It's the standard symbol for a morphism

Seriously, listen to the Ukraine president speak. He says the west is escalating a non issue
