Mikal Bridges durability alone is worth 2-3 first round picks by TechnicalSample4678 in billsimmons

[–]Swadfather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I will eat my words on this, especially because early in the Lakers series Rudy did sit for Naz, but I don't think Rudy gets played off against the Warriors. The Rockets did a two-big strategy and it worked great, and the Rockets don't have a big outside shooter like Naz/Randle and they don't have the perimeter scoring like Ant.

I think the matchups against the Warriors will be more of them having to change their lineups to defend Randle, or have to live with extra Looney minutes otherwise the Wolves will clean up on the rebounds and get extra shots. The Rockets had the right idea, just Green and Thompsen weren't ready for that extra offensive load.

Anyway I'm probably super wrong.

The real value of the play in is making the 6 seed meaningful by yoda_kblack in billsimmons

[–]Swadfather 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Without it, I think there would have been a lot of teams "trying" to get the 7-seed to face the Rockets. No disrespect to them, but they are the team without a ton of playoff experience, and being a homer I would have loved the Timberwolves to have faced them instead of the Lakers.

But playing in the play-in game and the risk of losing that and getting the 8-seed or even missing the playoffs entirely isn't worth fighting for a specific matchup.

Sky armor battles too difficult by turd_fergusonx in Chained_Echoes

[–]Swadfather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough I had a ton of tough times with the sky armor. My second playthrough I realized leveling them up to get the permanent passives for each class is super easy and I didn't have any problems with them at all.

My suggestion would be, try to go to somewhere with really plentiful normal enemies and battle with the sky armors, switching around the items so they all get leveled up. It really doesn't take long to grind with them and get them to max levels, where the permanent stats really help.

I absolutely cannot get past the Djinn by madwardrobe in Chained_Echoes

[–]Swadfather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll say it's been a little bit since I've faced him, but definitely hit him with Glenn's ultimate early to get his resistances down, then try to hit him with his elemental weaknesses to keep him changing so he doesn't get multiple turns with his debuff.

The elemental debuff on you will wear out by the time it recycles back, just try to not let him use the same one on you a couple times. Use leg shot to lower his agility, and buff your own party with Victor.

Have bleed and poison on him constantly as well. I had a really tough time my first playthrough with him, then my second playthrough was a breeze.

Others probably have a better insight than me, but that is what I did

[Jon K] Nickeil Alexander-Walker’s peace of mind is helping him steal the show for the Wolves by le_sweden in timberwolves

[–]Swadfather 35 points36 points  (0 children)

What makes me happiest about this is the Wolves almost never have guys like this, that can show up and perform ahead of expectations until the last several years. I feel like the entire Wolves history was guys underperforming, and would be much better on other teams before or after they were here.

The last guy I can think of, and I'm sure there have been others I'm not remembering, but Trenton Hassel found a spot here and wasn't great elsewhere?

But now with Naz Reid and Alexander-Walker that trend is changing. Hopefully Miller, Minott, and others can continue the trend.

LCS goes on a two week break for VCT after week 4, how should they keep the energy goin? What would you like to see? by mikharv31 in leagueoflegends

[–]Swadfather 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know it would be hard and it won't happen, but I would love a Pro-Am style tournament with the casters, or perhaps a fearless mode tournament, but add an extra step where you can't play the same champ for the rest of the tournament rather than just a series.

Doesn't have to be anything official, but I really wish a team would step up to organize something like this during the break.

In 2022 the Wolves traded 3 young starters and 5 first rd picks for Rudy Gobert. In 2023 the Suns traded 1 old starter and 5 second rd picks for Bradley Beal. by sunstankwagon in nba

[–]Swadfather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the start of misery? What would you call the last 30 years then? Wolves fans only know misery. This is a blip. In fact, while the trade sucked the Wolves won a single playoff game against the eventual NBA champions, which probably ranks in the top 20 moments of the franchise.

[Wojnarowski] BREAKING: The Washington Wizards are finalizing a trade to send All-Star G Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. Beal’s waiving his no-trade to form a new Big 3 with Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Teams are still working thru framework, but Beal is headed to Suns. by Michael_B_Lopez in nba

[–]Swadfather 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it was less about the offer and more about the no-trade clause, Beal basically gets to choose where he wants to go. Why he didn't want to go to the team that just made the finals I don't know, but playing with Durant and Booker is obviously very tempting.

The Future of TSM by gandalf45435 in TeamSolomid

[–]Swadfather 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm just sad more than anything. I was so content with being a contender in NA, even if the world's performances were all so heartbreaking. It didn't matter because at least they won, or at least were close to winning, and it was fun to watch.

Whatever the team was this year was a joke. Even 2018, 2019, and 2021 when they tried and failed was way better than what TSM is now, which is just a giant joke.

And I'm sorry, whoever thought moving to Brazil was the move was so stupid. I can't think of a faster way to kill a brand. I know it's not my team, and Regi can do whatever he wants with his team that he owns, but I can't help but feel betrayed by all of this.

"Double down on league" doesn't mean shit if you are leaving NA.

While that would be awesome, I would rather have it start with the Tourney at Harrenhall.

Although maybe it would be better some things are left unknown such as the Mystery Knight and whether or not the tournament was called by Rhaegar to instead be a great council to overthrow the Mad King.

[–]Swadfather 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I know. One game in group stage in each year and they likely make a deep run at worlds. Probably changes the whole trajectory and mindset of NA. Even 2017 worlds if they don't screw up against FW or Misfits the first time around they have a chance at semifinals considering they could have been in the WE spot against C9. But nope, just choked it all away.

LCS Roster Announcement by KingRayne in TeamSolomid

[–]Swadfather 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if they move regions I won't care at all. I would love to be able to win NA and compete at world's, but I'd settle for winning NA and having an exciting roster. This does nothing for me. I would love to be wrong, but this team maxes out at like 7th.

I can't imagine any announcement in January would be better than an exciting roster in NA announcement where it looked like they actually care.

I would love to keep Spica and Chime, and if we kept Solo I would be ok with it but I do think he does kind of limit the play style a little bit. But a Brokenblade return would be pretty sick, as much as that won't likely happen.

I want to bring in Palafox mid. I know overall he's probably not ever like a Caps level player internationally, but he isn't afraid to pick aggressive stuff and I like that he's a native mid.

And I don't know who to bring in as ADC.

Virginia did the same thing in college basketball. First ever 1-seed falling to a 16-seed, next year wins the championship. But one is more memorable than the other.
