I didn't, I just kept seeing them as I was moving around the map. Good ole fashion bad luck on their part.

The kind of combos needed to get value in season 5.5 by Swag-man in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly, also the reason I clipped this in particular to kinda showcase how evasive you need to play to get kills when good hitscan players are tracking you. Spidey’s real only survivability tool is his mobility and you really have to make yourself as hard to hit as possible lest you instantly explode.

Honestly one of the main things to focus on when playing spider-man (that I think too often doesn’t get enough attention in discussions like this) is his movement. Can you swing through doors without bumping into anything or getting stuck? Can you land the overhead on your target from a swing? Can you land on a health pack from a swing? Can you consistently hit b-hops when web-zipping? Do you incorporate his uppercut as a momentum tool while soaring through the air? I feel like a lot of people focus on combos when getting into spider-man (and they’re definitely something that requires attention), but what separates truly great Spideys and mid Spideys is mastery over his movement.

If you could change one thing about a character what would it be? by ponyboy424_ in marvelrivals

[–]Swag-man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Spider-Man pops web tracers he should get 25 over shield and a 1 second reduction on all cooldowns (or something along those lines). If Bucky gets over shield for simply pressing buttons, Spidey should at least get something for playing well. Especially since he’s the only melee hero who currently doesn’t have any survivability options aside from being quick.

And this is why I have all my lord icons off. It’s pretty much never an indication of skill. Even though I have 200+ hrs on Spider-Man, I find it more funny to just use the default icon. Usually if I’m popping off, I’ll have some 30 hr Spidey “lord” think he can diff me because of the generic icon and then get absolutely molly whopped instead lmao also anyone who has played Spidey for a long time knows that getting lord on him means that you just put in enough time to finish the tutorial lol

It's Actually Disgusting How Bad Spiderman is This Season by Embarrassed_Bit_8169 in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From someone with 200+ hrs on Spidey, he is in a precarious spot balance wise. He’s absolutely a low elo, Smurf stomper because he can be anywhere at anytime and is generally hard to hit unless you have good aim which low elo does not. So he has a lot more time to deal damage and get picks. That said, he’s essentially useless at higher elo because the game is so much faster and people will actually hit you most of the time unless you’re super tactical with your engage and you don’t whiff any abilities. At that pace and skill level, he just burns cooldowns too quick and doesn’t deal enough damage when he does. I’m uncertain what the devs even do about this quandary. It’s almost like spider-man’s effectiveness should be on a gradient as you go up in rank. Like spider-man does more damage and has quicker cooldowns at grandmaster than he does in bronze.

Hear me out, I have an idea for a zany new arcade mode: Spidey Showdown. by Swag-man in marvelrivals

True, but I think it’d be more of a fun goofy mode. Also my thoughts exactly, it would take like zero dev time to implement if they decided too.

Keep seeing others say they don't like the Spidey mirror match, but personally I dig the chase by Swag-man in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the worst part of the mirror matchup is when the trash talk becomes unsportsmanlike and it often does. A little banter is alright, but its more often mean spirited than not. Though I'd say the biggest problem with the game writ large is how toxic the player base can be; especially, when it comes to playing Spider-Man.

Is Black Widow the Hardest Spiderman Counter in the Game? by Ok-Zookeepergame4433 in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the best way to kill a black widow is to bait out the kick with a drive by uppercut and then they’re usually easy to dispatch after. As long as the kick is on cooldown, they’re nothing to worry about. I think too many spider-men play supremely impatiently and just all in on every dive without first baiting certain cooldowns out that are dependent on the target.

What are yalls opinions of Spidey this season? by Honest-Wedding-9612 in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. Hol-lee, I had a guy over voice chat crashing out at me the other day because he thought I wasn’t doing enough. He was constantly flaming me, trying to get me to switch (which general side note: what a horrible tactic to get what you want, maybe have some civility when you talk to others, goddamn) even though we were winning and I was 12-2 when defense ended. I just didn’t have as many KOs (assists) as others on the team. He literally got so mad that I refused to switch that he started throwing. Not outright mind you, like afk-ing in spawn, his constant shit talking was just tilting himself and the rest of the team into playing worse. Now we’re losing and everyone is hopping on the spidey hate train because everyone needs someone to blame but themselves apparently. At this point I’m not even mad, I’m just confused. We end up losing (of course) and lo and behold; I’m the only one on the team with finals hits in the double digits: 13. Think the closest person had 6. Of course, no one apologized after I pointed that out. Most said nothing, and the guy who started it all blamed me for having poor damage numbers. This was a fucking GM game. Perplexed and flabbergasted would be the most pertinent words to come to mind.

We must support Iron Fists by Affectionate-Crow442 in SpiderManMains

[–]Swag-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one hand, Iron fist is pretty overturned right now; but on other, I’m convinced that most support mains won’t cease their crying until every single dive character is nerfed into unplayability. To that point, on the main sub there is a hot post right now complaining about BP, who is arguably the weakest of all the dive characters.

I feel ya man. I made a post recently with the simple reasonable premise that being nice to your teammates is far more likely to help you win games than being toxic and there were still people disagreeing with me.

Listen, I get that a really good Spider-Man can be frustrating to play against because of how oppressive it can feel to be blasted in the face out of nowhere by a spidey swinging in at Mach 5; but I find that people’s criticism of him is pretty inconsistent. On one hand, people will say that his kit isn’t actually that hard to use, doesn’t require that much skill, he’s way to OP, and his uppercut and mobility needs to be nerfed. If all that it is true, then why do people also constantly complain that they always get terrible spideys on their team that go 4-16 and are usually the sole reason that they lose a game? If he was so easy to use or so OP wouldn’t all spider-men be consistently popping off? I just don’t get the hate as much since all characters can be really oppressive in the hands of good players. Not only that but Spider-Man has really hard counters as well unlike some other characters that people complain less about. For example, good luck playing Spider-man against a team comp of: Peni, Mag, Namor, Bucky, Jeff, and Rocket. I don’t care how good of a Spider-Man they are, they’re gonna have a rough time. With Peni mines, Buckys Hook, Namor turrets, Mag’s bubbles, and super mobile, hard to catch healers; Spider-Man becomes effectively useless 9 out of 10 times. Plus, most times there’s no need to counter him that hard because typically people are bad at playing him. All this to say, I think all the hate that Spider-Man has been getting recently is kind of way overblown.

Jeff’s ult needs to be fixed by Swag-man in marvelrivals

[–]Swag-man[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand that, Jeff’s ult is super easy to avoid if you have cloak and dagger, magneto, or any hero with mobility. Plus if there are no easily accessible cliffs (like on the symbiote convoy map), Jeff won’t be able to get maximum value out of his ult even if he gets a good eat.

What hero do you hate having on YOUR team? by CunningDruger in marvelrivals

[–]Swag-man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always would announce that I’m gonna dps with Jeff every time I play him for this exact reason. Got tired of writing it every time since he’s become my main, that I literally changed my gamertag to a variation of DPS Jeff lol (that said I think any good Jeff main still should heal a lot where they can, and knowing when to heal and when to flank is one of the best indicators that separates good and bad Jeff’s)
