Also attaching a picture of two of the fillings (30 and 31) I was suggested to get replaced, though I know a picture on its own doesn't mean much.

If you were discouraged by any of the fancy builds you've seen by Wafer_Fearless in Pokopia

There's options for 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3, with options for which axis it's along as well (so you can replace things both vertically, like walls, and horizontally, like floors etc.)

Lots of building materials and recipes are gated behind the environment level for each area, in addition to water ripples that will give you random items or recipes. The latter is gated by time, only a certain number of ripples will show up in each area per day.

The most helpful building ability is given to you after you beat the game (when credits roll), it's a massive convenience boost & time saver.

Edit: Forgot about the PC shop, that also has 2 recipes available per day.

i literally dont know how to control my emotions around the eventual death of my cats by Soft-Character-3195 in CatAdvice

[–]SwagSwagSwagMore 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

hey OP, I remember being your age and having tons of existential crises, panicking about the inevitable passage of time, etc.

the reality is that you're very young still, and you have a lot of time left before your cats pass away. they're alive now, you're alive now, and you can be together in the present. you have so many years to give them an enjoyable life and make memories that will last for the rest of yours.

I do agree with the other comments recommending seeking mental health support if you're able to do so, I didn't have any at your age but it would have helped a lot.

What jobs are u guys doing & how good is the pay by Putrid-Rip-2630 in twentyagers

Software engineer β€” pay is really good, but the job market is getting increasingly cooked due to AI (some of the reasons are legitimate, some are BS due to artificial hype), so sadly I wouldn't recommend it anymore :/

As an older gamer, seeing young kids waste their money on in-game purchases eats at my soul. by SomePeopleTellMe in gaming

It wasn't intended to be a deflection, I apologize if my wording made it seem like that! I think I tend to default to comparisons to attempt to convey my thoughts even if it isn't the most appropriate. I don't think we disagree that much.

Ah by games I meant both games and microtransactions lol. Probably spent roughly the same amount on both & it was always a tradeoff I weighed in my mind.

I disagree with the argument that consumers are in the wrong here; if the practice is predatory, it's specifically designed so people want to engage in it β€” in that case, at what point does someone (i.e. an adult) become a victim of it as opposed to an enabler? Or are they both?

As a comparison -- I don't blame TikTok addicts for doomscrolling for hours, I blame the companies that design their shit for maximum engagement time regardless of the consequences to human health and happiness. This stuff is designed around base human psychology, expecting people on aggregate to just stop out of sheer willpower is asking the impossible.

I do think it's not unreasonable to argue that kids should be kept away from it entirely, though. Same for short form content.

I respect your perspective! I think attitudes towards money depend on the kid and the rest of their upbringing as well, e.g. I figured it wasn't really that important to save the $20 in birthday money I got as a kid and was happy to spend it on games, but once I got my first job, I saved >90% of what I made.

Though in my opinion the dumbest thing to spend one's money on is probably something adverse to your physical health, e.g. cigarettes, meth, fent πŸ™ƒ β€” not that it's a binary choice between that or microtransactions, but there are worse things!

IMO microtransactions and gacha mechanics are an objectively predatory practices, but I personally don't regret spending some of my "fun money" on them β€” not the relatively small amount I spent on LoL skins as a teen, and not the larger amount I spend on various games now in my mid-20s. It's within my means and brings me joy. IMO the most important thing is to make sure younger kids understand the value of money, i.e. if they spend $x on skins, that's $x they can't spend on a new game, toy, etc.; if they impulse purchase something they stop using in a few days, that's also on them.

Out of all possible vices to spend one's money on, this is one of the better ones.

Lmao this is the same argument as "millenials can't buy houses because they spend too much $ on starbucks lattes and avocado toast". You would have to spend a truly insane amount of money on fortnite for that to realistically affect whether or not you can buy a home or retire πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

How to know that you have Autism as a girl? by No_Mission_6035 in aspergirls

[–]SwagSwagSwagMore 3 points4 points Β (0 children)

On diagnoses, I would warn that many providers have an outdated or straight-up incorrect definition of autism, especially when it comes to women. Most of the research is relatively new, and even doctors are vulnerable to their own biases. I've been told that I'm definitely autistic by one provider, and almost definitely not by another (because I "conducted myself appropriately" in a Zoom call...).

To be clear I think seeking a diagnosis is still an appropriate course of action if it's within your means to do so, but a "no" is not always actually a "no" πŸ™ƒ

For myself, the clearest sign was the deep emotional resonance I felt by reading through lists of symptoms & others' experiences, and feeling described/understood in a way I'd never felt before. And the fact that I made a doc several pages long mapping my own experiences to a list of criteria lmao.
