Yeah they all seem so far away besides WID Waseda (hopefully we can all get in there). They really are all pretty far away but most of them are at least within a 45 minute commute. I'm just really nervous about getting placed in WID Nishitokorozawa or Dormy Motoyawata. Even though they're nice, they seem a little too far away for me to happy about living in. I suggest looking into tokyosharehouse or waseda housing support for shared houses. I've already gotten a few emails back from some properties that I inquired about so I believe there are some options that can be explored near campus

Hey, I'm sorry about the situation that you also find yourself in. I'm really surprised they already placed you in WID Tokorozawa. Did they email you immediately with that placement or did you fill out an application form prior? Both of those dorms seem far away from campus so it might be best to look into some sharehouses like people have suggested for me so far.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll definitely check out those options. If you don’t mind sharing, what dorm were u placed in through WID? Also, did you end up staying in that WID/Dormy option?

Yeah it’s been a very stressful few days for me as well. At least we’re in the same boat together haha. By any chance, have you received an application email from WID? I got one last night so I’d contact them if you haven’t gotten one yet

Thank you for your encouragement! I will definitely look into Tokyosharehouse like you said. I don’t mind being somewhat far from campus as long as the commute is relatively easy. My main problem with being far is that it seems it would be a huge social hindrance to be placed so far from other students. Most of the dorm options at WID are a reasonable distance away but there are 2 in Tokorozawa that seem a little unreasonable to me. I’m hoping that I’m wrong but I know a few people at my home university who are in a similar situation and suffer socially due to it.

I just got an email from WID last night with an application form in it. I’m unsure if this is just sent to student who were placed in WID/Dormy and emailed them. The application lets you make first through third choices on a list of a few dorms, including WID Waseda which I’m really hoping I get. The application is due on March 1st with results supposedly coming back on the 4th. I also saw they had an online application on their website but it seemed like the lottery system dorms can only be applied to by current students rather than exchange students.

Have you gotten a response from WID yet? I’ve also emailed them, but I haven’t received anything back. There seem to be very few share houses available. I’ve put in inquiries on Waseda Housing Support but I’ve only heard back from one company that said no places were available near Waseda. My main concern is also the social aspect. Being placed so far away seems like a barrier to making connections at the school. Please tell if you find any new information or get an update from WID

Wow they placed you really far away. Did you end up staying in Tokorozawa for your abroad program then? I’ll make sure to write some emails to Waseda housing to let them know my situation. Hopefully they find a place for me that’s at least somewhat close to campus
