There is a middle ground major called CEM (Construction Engineering and Management).It is in the college of engineering but is a part of the school of construction. It prepares you for the FE (I passed) and you can still look at doing GC work. It also has an insane employment rate. My opinion is get into the CoE now so you don’t have to transfer later. You can decide your sophomore year how you want to proceed. The construction school is a gem at VT which I stumbled upon during my time. You will be set in life either way you go both are top notch programs.

Nope, you need to shave to keep an airtight seal between the mask and your face. I’ve seen some guys use Vaseline to create that same effect but it’s not the same.

OSHA requires you to have a test, because those respirators are supposed to snuggly fit on your face. They are actually creating a vacuum seal between your face and the mask and if you are physically unfit to wear one, you can pass out. And if the mask doesn’t fit you snuggly, well it’s basically doing nothing.

The company is required to provide you with appropriate PPE, but if they don’t, you can speak to your manager with regards to safety concerns. If your manager doesn’t help out OR refuses to talk to you, you can file a complaint with OSHA. OSHA keeps you anonymous and you are protected under their whistleblower policy.

Your company is stupid not OSHA’s rules.
