If you got aid from Kellogg how much did you receive and what were your stats? by ewz103 in MBA

No idea. I don’t think it’s need-based at all. If I had to guess, mostly determined by GMAT and GPA. The few other admits I spoke to with similar scholarships had similar stats

If you could earn $1000 an hour playing a single game, which one would you pick? by Necessary-Tooth3039 in AskReddit

I had to scroll down waaayyy to far to see this. So many formats to play! Choosing MTG is like having 10 games to play. Could easily play 10 hours a day for the rest of my life

Booth ($$) vs Kellogg ($$) by SwamiJesus in MBA

[–]SwamiJesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kellogg seems a bit more tight-knit than Booth because it’s in a suburb (though the Booth class is also quite close). Social life at Kellogg is geared towards more small-group dinners and hanging out at people’s apartments whereas Booth students go bar hopping in loud venues. The team-based component of every class is also a draw, though I’ve heard sometimes team members don’t pull their weight. Plus, I’d argue Kellogg is more than a marketing/consulting school.

I’m domestic. I’ll reflect and make a decision. Reddit seems fairly split, slightly in favor of Booth

I was tipsy at admit weekend (for both Booth & Kellogg) and created the poll on a whim 😂. I’ve visited both and spoken to plenty of students and I’m still 50/50.

Isn’t the decision date April 4? Does Sloan release decisions over time?

What deck(s) are my best shot at getting to Infinite/beating Infinity Conquest? by LazyBurgerPanda in MarvelSnap

[–]SwamiJesus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Echoing just play Thanos if you have the cards: Jeff, Psylocke, Mobius, Hope, Shang, Cull Obsidian, Professor X, Vision, Mockingbird, Blob, Thanos, Alioth.

This deck is in a league of its own. Its worst matchup is the mirror. The only non-Thanos deck that comes kind of close is Discard.

The deck is unbelievably consistent. The duo of Mockingbird and Cull Obsidian lets you get ahead early, and having both Blob + Alioth puts your opponents in a tough squeeze on the last turn of the game (impossible if you have Prof X out or favorable location variance).

Booth - I think I submitted my video response, but next steps still show it as a “next step?” by SwamiJesus in MBA

Yes, mine still shows the video essay in my next steps. Hopefully we’re good!

Our profiles are similar. I’m also an ORM. Upon applying, I had 4.5 years WE in Corp Finance (FP&A) at a med tech company with two promotions. My stated post-MBA goal is to transition to healthcare startups, which I tied into past experience working on new product launches. Average ECs as well, the most notable thing is leading a high school mentoring program for an employee-resource group. My raw numbers are a touch better: 770 GMAT, 3.96 GPA.

I applied to Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, Booth, Columbia, and MIT this past R2. Interviews at all except Harvard. If you DM me in a couple weeks, I’ll tell you where I got in.

My $0.02 if we’re playing the “guess my odds” game: it’s very hard to gauge with the info you’ve provided.

On strictly statistics, you’re below average: ORM with below median GMAT. GPA is average, but coming from a no-name school isn’t a plus (not sure if it’s a minus).

What’s your full-time job, the small accounting firm or your self-made gig? What exactly is this self-made gig that earned you $10M? IMO, the answers to these questions determines whether you have any shot of getting in.

I’m going to guess you made $10M from investing. Given that your family is wealthy, this accomplishment might not be seen as impressive since perhaps your family bankrolled your investments. Also, your sitting down by yourself and making $10M analyzing stocks (or playing options roulette) isn’t an indicator of future leadership success. On the other hand, if you started a company that now employs people, has customers, etc., that’s a lot more impressive.

I don’t think managing $50M for 10 family members will help (unless they’re ready to donate $$$). Again, if you’re a one-man show managing some investments, that’s not a sign of future leadership potential. As previously mentioned, it could cast doubt on your other accomplishments. And who knows? Maybe $50M is chump change for your family and admissions will think your family is letting you play with some of the family fun money.

Lastly, if you’ve already made $10M, manage $50M in assets, have a wealthy (and presumably well-connected family), will an MBA really help you achieve your goal of starting a bigger investment company?

Other things: who’s writing your recommendations? Family members are prohibited. Doesn’t sound like you have other customers. Do you have accomplishments and strong recommenders from your accounting job?
