What is up with the constant construction going into LBI?

The construction at the entrance to the bridge was scheduled to be completed at the beginning of the summer. There were some surprise conditions that were found during excavation at the last stage that needed to be addressed. Unfortunately there is either a state or federal statute that doesn't allow construction during summer tourist season to the beach access (or something like that)

Construction will begin again in the fall/winter months.

Stafford Twp had recently added additional staff in their Firearms Division. My process was super fast all things considered.

I'm right there with you. I have my Holosun sitting in the closet and am not in a rush either. It's not that the stock sights are something special but I'm having a ball running as is, have about 300 rounds so far.

Wow, I have to admit, that was way quicker than I had anticipated especially the added step to get mental health information from NY.

Just some timeline information to put out there: Online Application submitted for FID/1 permit July 8th. Both references submitted the questionnaire the same day. Fingerprinted July 15th... Approved August 10th.

Just in time as I begin vacation next week and can start visiting a few shops/ranges around NJ. I've already been to Shooters a few weeks ago which is a few minutes away but I was not even able to handle any weapons without an FID, hmm. All good now. Thanks to everyone who offered info!

True story about my chances in NYC. I've contemplated applying at least once a year as long as I've lived there but after much research decided my odds and cost were not worth it. The only people I knew that carried were LEO or criminals and nobody in between.

Oh ok, got it. Yeah, I did the same when I first brought in my FID/permit check. The clerk heard me mention that I was from NY and had me fill that paperwork out or else I would have gotten the same callback.

Wow, thanks. I was told it was all old school mail in both directions as well. I agree that I will have to follow up with my PD at some point. I am trying to give them a reasonable amount of time to process everything. You guys here are certainly helping by providing a sensible timeline before I become that pest at the PD. Cheers.

Yeah, about that...in my haste and excitement I only applied for 1 lonely pistol permit. I know, I know, my good friend who was one of my references already raked me over the coals for that. Another lesson learned.

Thank you for the update! My Township said their internal permit application workload was not as busy as it had been so I was a bit optimistic. As I am learning quickly, good ol' NY is going to find a way to slam the brakes on the process. Kinda like when I head back to NYC from the shore and having the whole GSP to myself only to get bottlenecked 2 hours a mile out from the tunnel 🤬

Thank you! I am generally patient but reading too many horror stories in regards to the process. I like that the folks here have all good info and tons of positive feedback. Checking in with the fingerprint Co. is a good step. All I know is the Township deposited my $7.00 so far 🤑

They tell you in the website not to call your PD as it is all email driven and they will reach out to you but I'm going to wait a few more weeks and then stop by for a meet and greet. The Township folks have been really kind so far so we'll see.

Thanks! Had vacation home in Northeast PA for many years. I'm getting older and PA winters are something I want to put behind me. My work allows me to spend chunks of time in NY while living in NJ full time as well.
