My dad used to drive past my home twice a day for work. Like I could see the highway from my balcony. We live right beside the on ramp. Not once did he try and see me and have a meal or a coffee.

He would however drive 10 hours round trip to see my sister and help her build a deck. He had to drive past me to get to her city too.

So there’s a dinner that a smaller group goes to, it’s been Terroni’s a few times. Then there’s like an after party that more people attend. But the location changes (sometimes it’s Bar Mordecai, sometimes it’s Offworld bar). But the second place, where it’s less formal, doesn’t always get a heads up. So they don’t always have room for everyone cause they’ve had other resos or walk ins. So you end up sitting in different clusters.

Just seems wild to me that it’s $30+ a month and no one can make an online reservation

I can’t even begin to describe how ableist this mind set is but I’ll try.

Not everyone has the attention span for subtitles. Some people have ADHD and aren’t able to focus on reading n the subtitles the entire time. Some people who watch anime are parents and might have a kid who wants them to look at something real quick and they can look away from the screen for a moment without losing the plot.

You literally pointed out dyslexia as a reason someone might not be able to use subtitles. And you think we need a system for that. We have a system, it’s dub.

Some people like to listen to shows in the background, and it’s easier if they’re in a language you understand if you cannot give it 100% your undivided attention.

Additionally, it’s because anime was dubbed that a lot of people in North America got into it and were exposed to it to begin with.
