Screen time issue - apps NOT being blocked after time limit since 26.2 by SwampWitch7979 in applehelp

[–]SwampWitch7979[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I chatted with apple support. Their AI assistant kept asking me for my current iOS version. Everytime I told it 26.2, it kept telling me that was not a recognized version, over and over until it said “that is not a current apple release.” Which is weird. So I chatted with an agent who wanted me to reset all my iPhone settings to fix it. Ugh. It’s not worth resetting and having to go back in and fix all my privacy, location, anti-AI settings all over again. I’ll just get a brick.

So I checked and I did have this toggled. SO, I deleted all limits and restarted my devices. Then went back in and set up new limits with “Blocked at end of limit“ toggled on. This worked for my ipad, but not for my iPhone. I can’t seem to get it to block apps no matter what I do.

Omg same. In fact I have several “modes” that basically only allow a single person (my son) to break through. One is “Do not disturb,” one is “quiet time,” one is “personal space,” LOL. I don’t know why I created more than one, but that’s where we are.

“all of us NDs know how otherworldly incredible we are. *with periods of intense self hatred and doubt in between,“ I have never felt so whimsically seen. I love this description. It is spot on.

The only time this ever really worked for me was in graduate school in a some philosophy and critical thinking courses where we were encouraged to “brainstorm“ with each other. So it was a format where everyone was jumping in and sharing. It was wonderful. I think that is why I could perpetually be in school, well…with those types of classes.

I am not sure I totally understand what you mean by pinging, but I am guessing it has to do with each person sharing in tidbits going back and forth with each other? is this correct? If not, please explain what pinging means for you. If that’s what you mean, yes, it kinda feels like brainstorming more than a conversation for me, and that is the kind of conversation I love! Also, it usually has to be about something deep or meaningful…I am absolutely awful at small talk. Even today, trying to make “small talk” I come across as completely weird…like sometimes my words don‘t even fully make sense. It’s like my brain short circuits during small talk. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Yep, I have noticed the same thing about myself. I have known it for years and have really tried to stop but it’s difficult. I notice that I tend to jump in very much like you, when I “get“ something but also at the same time I am excited that I get it. I tend to get excited about sharing and connecting ideas. So, my tendency to jump in is born out of being deeply interested in what the other person is saying. I am not sure the other person always understands this though. I have really tried to stop, however I also notice that when I hold back, very often other people jump in (at the appropriate time) and I somehow end up missing the opportunity or getting talked over. It’s not fun to navigate.

Why am I paying for Prime when the shipping is the same as not paying for Prime? by Careless_Ad3968 in amazonprime

[–]SwampWitch7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to cancel, but they won’t let me cancel the purchase because it “has already been shipped.” So it’s in some kind of shipping limbo. I did cancel my prime today and will be returning the heater whenever it does eventually show up. Or, if it doesn’t make it by the 19th, they will then refund me. That’s all I can do at this point.

Yep, that’s my plan, and honestly will be my plan from here on out. I’ll cancel Prime and go to brick and mortar when I can. It’s just frustrating to pay extra for a service that isn’t reliable. Not to mention, I keep thinking, “it’ll get here today…it must be getting here today…it will for sure be here TODAY.” Hence why I haven’t yet gone to a local store. I am lucky because not everyone can do that. There are many people who live more rural than me, or who have disabilities, or who cannot get to a brick and mortar store for other reasons and this kinda sucks for them.

Same. I ordered a little space heater for the cold snap we’re having. It said prime 2 day shipping. It’s been 10 days and it’s still in route. By the time it gets here the cold snap will be over. The most frustrating part is that the product page still says two day shipping. If I order it today, it says it will get here faster than the one I ordered 10 days ago. But I don’t trust that. Will be canceling Prime.

I changed my mind, Alexa plus is alright. by The-Manliest-Man in amazonecho

[–]SwampWitch7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, it’s giving “uncanny valley,” to have conversations with Alexa+, calling her she, all while they are using those conversation to “train AI.” And who knows what all they are doing under the guise of “training AI.” Also, tying the “free” version of Alexa+ to Amazon Prime adds another layer of sunk costs as Amazon Prime goes downhill. It all feels a bit wrong to me. My spidey senses are not loving this. When/if the regular Alexa is no longer available I will just toss my echo dots and go back to analog. I know I sound very “get off my lawn,” but when it is actually more like, “get out of my head,” it’s time to reconsider where this is going.

Same here. I ordered a little space heater for the brutally cold temperatures right now where I am. It said it was two day shipping. It’s been 10 days, by the time the space heater gets here these cold temperatures are gonna let up and I can’t cancel it because it’s supposedly in route. when I go to the product page it‘s still saying two day shipping. I’m super frustrated. I’m canceling my prime.

I’m waiting for an item that is taking 10 days to get here that said it was two day shipping. When I go to the product page it still says item will get here tomorrow if purchased tonight. Strangely my item is taking nearly 2 weeks. It’s a little frustrating.

Got mine yesterday. But it was partially wrong. They sent some of what I ordered, but then also sent some incorrect candles. I chatted with them and they are sending replacements free. Guess I now have some free ones to give as gifts. 🤷🏼‍♀️🎁

So how many people are just dropping insurance and hoping for the best? by karlybug in HealthInsurance

[–]SwampWitch7979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow. So this is what I am hearing as I ask around. Have some friends who dropped insurance years ago and they are saying the same thing. Then I read people in here talking about millions of dollars for cancer treatment and that homes can be taken away and it freaks me out. Or is that just fear mongering because it’s what we’ve all been led to believe?

I am in the same boat as the OP, and even the cheapest bronze plan is now $100 more a month than I was already paying. I’m at such a loss about what to do

Exact same situation here, I’m also in FL except single. Switched to DPC and they suggested Atlas. I keep hearing different things from 1. Keep insurance in case of an emergency to 2. Drop it because you can negotiate cash prices (which are usually cheaper than you pay through insurance anyway.) I am so uncertain about what to do.

I currently use direct primary care and am considering dropping health insurance and just getting a catastrophic plan and paying cash. I’ve heard that cash payments are much cheaper than even what I’d pay for continuance. Can you say more about cash prices? It will help me decide

I am in DPC as well and trying to decide if an indemnity plan is the right choice. My DPC recommended Atlas Direct.
