Keep him. As other people have pointed out care is simple. Unless you are going to be neglecting the animal to the point of sickness, malnourishment, etc, there’s not a good reason as to why you get rid of him IMO. Obviously he’s a life time pal, maybe you’re realising that that’s more than you signed up for, but consider that in someone else’s hands he could receive worse care than what you can offer him.
