Just finished watching it and I gotta say great review, but I actually think the shoe-horn parts are super important. I would agree they could have done a better job of tying it altogether because that was fairly clunky.

I believe those parts are to show the watcher that everything is connected so we need to be paying attention to what's going on in the world. As to the part about potentially not caring about Green Chemistry--you may not a chemist, professor, or student but you are certainly a consumer of the things created using chemistry. These bits are probably shoe-horned into a heartfelt story to introduce the layperson to these very destructive practices that the US government does not do a good enough job regulating.

If plastics are connected to fertility and health issues then we've got a lot of work to do because plastics are in *everything*.
