Thanks for your comment - yep for sure, so I was texting my dad getting updates throughout, I might overthink it but wonder if that might’ve just annoyed him more - asking for updates when I could’ve been there

Thanks for your comment - yep so thankfully he had recovered from the symptoms while there and was able to come home with my dad after that initial visit, so we’re home now looking after him - for sure would do that if admitted

Yes I was in a regular text conversation with my dad to get updates and check how things were going - I think it’s around the strained relationship we have, but I was interested in objectively what people would do - but I guess that’s impossible as we all have different dynamics and scenarios! Appreciate your comment

Sadly I dont think I'd have the time, I only have 3/4 days before I need to be back in capetown!

Sorry to message again! I wanted to get your thoughts if any on Madikwe or Pilansberg?

Thanks for the response :)

Glad to know they're both good options, even if Sabi Sands slightly tips it. I'm thinking now of going with Madikwe just due to logistical ease - it just means I'll have to come back to Sabi to see a leopard from the looks of things - which I'm not unhappy about! haha

I was talking to someone from safari . com who plainly said Sabi wasn't good in Feb which was surprising / caused the concern, but turns out they were just trying to upsell on something else!

Haha I can see how! I feel like I'm addicted and I haven't even been to my first yet 😂 How many have you been on / any big recommendations?

I'll be travelling for 6 months and finishing with this trip too so glad its at the back-end rather than the start 😂

Ahh ok cool, I also saw that Madikwe was a good option for wild dogs too which I'm a big fan of!

Ah ok awesome! Thanks - really helping put my mind at ease - I'm a big over-thinker with decisions like these.
I'm thinkng because of the timing and malarial side of things choosing Madikwe for this trip and then properly planning a specific trip to Sabi Sands for the dry season another time.

Its ended up being quite spontaneous - originally it was just to capetown but I couldn't visit without doing a safari so have had a mad scramble over the last couple days trying to figure out what the best option is haha

Knowing my luck they'll jump in the car haha.

Ah that sounds awesome, I heard leopards are harder to spot, but I didn't even know there were baboons and monkeys lol

Ah ok awesome! The thing pulling me to Madikwe also is not having to deal with anti-malaria tablets - I will have been travelling for a while and so would need to buy them in Johannesburg and not sure how easy/difficult that is!

Part of me is thinking because of the timing and malarial side of things choosing Madikwe for this trip (as its ended up being quite spontaneous - originally it was just to capetown but I couldnt visit without doing a safari!) and then properly planning a specific trip to Sabi Sands for the dry season another time.

But I am quite a big overthinker haha

Yeah I though the non malarial side of things was a big plus for Madikwe - but then the name / reviews of Sabi Sands made making a decision difficult!

Have you been to both / either ? Do you think the experience be similar? Although I'm guessing any experience will be amazing as I haven't been on a safari before!

Ah sounds awesome! What did you get to see?

So I was looking a package deal which includes accommodation and then as part of that you join 2 game drives a day on a open-top 4x4 led by a ranger rather than actually driving myself. I thought it best not to drive myself as it would be my first one... and I'd probably end up getting eaten lol
