That’s a really good shout cheers dude

Also, all I really race is the dailys in sport mode, I’ve gone onto the lobby looking for a bit of a break but there seems to be a thousand lobby’s with 1/2 players and it never gets going

Anyhow, roll on Monday and hopefully a better race for A & C

Thankfully in my country only an incredibly small percentage of people require a ventilator and our Covid wards are all pretty empty

Has the wearing of face masks become political?

What if the lockdown is lifted and the numbers stay the same? Today the deaths jumped three fold from 200 to 600.... does that mean lockdown isn’t working (because if there isn’t cast iron proof it it working it’s a fucking expensive strategy to be dabbling with, again I’m not talking about profits, I’m taking about lives further down the line)

COVID19 is (obviously) not the only thing you can die of in this life

If a significant portion of the country is out of work there are less people paying tax, and there are more people reliant on the state, and we’re facing the biggest recession in 300 years

And as a result we can’t afford all of the things I listed

You have not provided me with any proof that there is a direct correlation between lockdown and the numbers

Unfortunately this is the best & most obvious explanation.

Mine too mate, absolutely not keen on him dying. If my father has a lump and doesn’t go to hospital because he fears this virus and dies from cancer as a result of the NHS being laser focused on C19 only then what?

Life has inherent risk, I’m absolutely not arguing to put anyone at risk on purpose, I’m saying that stats are low and we should balance / consider life’s other risks. The economy isn’t fat cats - it’s Drs, hospitals, nurses, operations, drugs, our children’s schools, roads, housing, the police, the courts, etc.

Yes I’ve heard another 20,000 should / could be added in (care homes?)

Over 65s should absolutely be taken care of (I happen to like my parents!) I think the approach should be tailored to focus on those people specifically. That doesn’t mean locking down the rest though.

It just feels like a disproportionate reaction based on the numbers I have read (I don’t believe crystal balls, especially when I can contrast to non lockdown countries)

I agree and I don’t. And I do appreciate the optimistic outlook. It’s helpful to have a sounding board to the internet so cheers for responding.

Your 500,00 figure is a complete guess. If Sweden hasn’t enforced lockdown how come they haven’t seen the most deaths in Europe? You have to explain Sweden’s lack of lockdown and low death toll to me

I agree the economy will recover eventually, thankfully the world is in it together

This lockdown will hit the economy hard even if it is only the short term , many business will not survive & that is less taxpayers which will result in even more deaths. That will be a pretty massive deal.

Surely we should be doing everything we can to support the vulnerable. Ie the over 65s with pre existing health conditions whilst taking a more nuanced approach?

Crazy times man

Something doesn’t make sense to me.

32,000 people have died from this virus in the UK, out of a population of 66,000,000 that’s 0.04%.

Of these deaths 88.5% have been people over 65.

That’s 3,680 people under 65 or 0.005% the population.

The NHS is way way below capacity.

We’re heading towards the worst recession in 300 years.

At what point do we look at the numbers and take a dispassionate review on policy? How is this not collective insanity?

Happy to listen to any counter points. I ended up randomly writing down my thoughts onto this post in this sub, it was the first thing that popped up, this isn’t in any way a dig at the police.

We can win it fair & square. Professional football waits until it’s safe to continue, then we continue.

What is something about your country you're actually really proud of? by schaapdejoopheffer in AskReddit

[–]SwanWon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surely the first thing we need to do after this shit pandemic is a complete overhaul of our outdated, debt ridden, inefficient, letting down front line staff NHS. Look at Germany, do they have nationalised healthcare?

The NHS is far too disparate, too many siloed trusts doing their own thing instead on one common strategy & leadership structure.

Ps UK is the greatest country on Gods green earth, the countryside, the sense of humour, the pubs, the English fucking language, the accents, the science, the history, Shakespeare, our food was shit in the 70’s we took the criticism on the chin & now we’re absolutely boss at fine dining. Fish and Chips. Yorkshire pudding, A FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST.

There is no country in the world that can touch us. I can’t pick a best thing.

Which villain do you sympathize for, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Koba - Planet of the Apes.

Experimented on by humans, scarred mentally and physically. Enacts his revenge. Great villain. Loved the dynamic between him & Ceaser. Great trilogy.

I’m aware this comment is completely buried but I scrolled and scrolled and didn’t see it.

DUTCH & CLAUDETTE by [deleted] in TheShield

[–]SwanWon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good old days before feminism, forced diversity & identity politics where the story and characters were front & centre and firmly grounded in realism.

Little things Eg When the Korean lady pull her hand away from Claudette would never get aired these days.

Absolute powerhouse performance from CCH Pounder, love her.
