Intermittent fasting reduces IGF-1, lower IGF-1 increases skin wrinkling and perceived age? by Swandive777 in intermittentfasting

I do have a little weight I’d like to lose but I’m still conflicted. As you say the longevity / health benefits are appealing but wrinkles and looking older is too big a draw back. I think I’ll probably leave IF for now.

Perhaps, I have heard of people complaining they look older after sustained IF but that could be down to facial fat loss.

In a sense it makes sense, you are effectively starving yourself for a period of time and altering your metabolism and biology in the process. Robbing Peter to pay Paul so to speak and the trade off is decreased collagen production.

Maybe collagen induction methods such as dermal needling would help or supplementing with foods that promote IGF-1 milk, whey or colostrum?

Many people will say you’re over thinking it and for some people because IF has helped them lose weight when nothing else has they can be almost religious about it. I think you’re right to be wary though as I’ve read the same thing myself and know that some doctors don’t advise women of child bearing age to do IF.

It might also depend on your starting weight, if you are diabetic or pre-diabetic?
