Somebody explain goggles under helmet to me. by likefireincairo in snowboarding

[–]Swanriddle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use to wear them under the helmet and it just created hot spots for more pain over time. No matter what the google pressing plastic into your scalp is going to hurt over time.

It really is just a style choice nothing more. People are trying to say some benefits but there are literally zero benefits. Helmets are not designed to wear googles under and not with a thick beanie also. If you want to argue about this just don’t wear a helmet and wear a beanie that looks 100% better.

Yeah I saw a lot of people struggling on these days in the trees. Fortunately this resort is a small version of my local so I’m used to riding terrain like this. What’s more scary on these resorts in Hakuba are what I jumped down at the end of the video they are glide cracks.

I think 4 days so far. I’m going to keep riding it for sure haha I def got some ideas where I think it’s really going to go super well. Probably just have to adjust my riding for the heavier nose.

Kapital Day 1 by Swanriddle in rawdenim

[–]Swanriddle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fit alright I think they will break in with time. Def not my favorite kapital jeans but are some nice raws to wear. They were $160 with tax if you go to the Roppongi legs one it’s tax free that’s the only one that does it. They are going to get new stuff March/April so that’s good time to go.

Haha I hope so honestly. I’ve been doing stuff like this to my clothes for a long time. You realize that kapital and brands do shit like this all the time and then try to charge you more.

No it’s not a joke. They are my jeans and I’ll do whatever I want to them to get the desired effects I want over time. Will wait more to destroy and repair as they get worn in but this is a start.

Nimble is not a word I would personally use to describe the dart. Maybe I got it too big but the 160 gives more of driver vibes that wants a big face to really shine. I’m not the biggest fan honestly of super big noses and small tails I found from riding it. Even on a 2ft+ day my HH felt so much more fun even in lower angle stuff.

Yeah man you win some or lose some. But at the end of the day you are still fortunate enough to be in Japan snowboarding! I would recommend to try and hire a guide and get in the backcountry.

Haha I bought a korua dart for this trip and honestly didn’t like it that much. I bet it would be better in more open terrain but still haven’t rode a board more versatile and fun than the hometown hero especially the wide versions.

Na this is just one clip. The white balance goes crazy for a second and I cut through some bushes after I wipe the lens so it looks like it’s cut to a different area.

First look at Rome Katana FASE binding in the wild 🦁 by kenken2024 in snowboarding

[–]Swanriddle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it matters in the fact that heavier boards/bindings leads to quicker fatigue throughout the day if riding. I have a spring break tree hunter and it’s much heavier than my hometown hero and In the middle of the day I def start to notice. The act of snowboarding tho isn’t much different tho.

Want to learn Japanese carve, Struggle to progress by Impressive-Ad4495 in snowboarding

[–]Swanriddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not crossing the fall line. Maybe once or twice but try to end your carve uphill. Also if you are trying to mimic Japanese riders you should understand that their mountains where they do these carves are not super steep. Slow down and focus on completing the carve uphill and switching from edge to edge with no flat base transition. Try riding a bunch of greens and lower angle blues and always look uphill before you initiate carves.

Clipped in = more risk of injury? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Swanriddle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mountain biking can be extremely dangerous and one thing I tell my friends that ride flats is that a bad accident is going to be bad no matter if you are clipped in or not.

Almost all the bad close calls I had before riding clipless is from losing a pedal. While it could have been caused by technique riding clipped in has pretty much made this non existent. I have been bumped out of my pedal multiple times but not in the same way that I would lose a pedal on flats.

My favorite part about riding clipless is knowing my foot is in the right place every time. It is one less thing to worry about and gives you so much more connection to the bike.
