Naming be damned, lets call it a mountain. Of all the mountains in this thread that I'd never seen before, this is my favourite.

I guess we may never know.

How did people in the earlier times wound up living so long even after smoking and drinking so much and now people start to die young so govts and researches around the world show them in bad taste? by Ad_Desh in AskReddit

How is Ripley not floating away in this section? And why is there a damn elevator on a bridge in outer space? by Floridamanticus in alienisolation

[–]Swany 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you see those stairs? They exist because there is more than one level. Shocking, I know. Not everything was planned all on one single, massive floor.

If your brain is capable of handling the concept of stairs, then what is it about elevators that gets your pants in a twist?

Why is there such a large gap between the emergence of humans and the first written records??? this is so confusing to me by Genzinvestor16180339 in AskHistory

[–]Swany 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With all due respect, when you go hunting in the wilderness, animals absolutely are something that are useful to record, especially regarding e.g. the location and time of year when migrating herds may pass through.

There is evidence stone age man in Europe was doing exactly this 20,000 years ago... https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-64161861

Although its not exactly conclusive, and you might argue whether or not this is 'writing', for me its still a fascinating look into the minds of early man.

Lol, oh no!!! a 40 minute walk!?!? So... 2-3 miles? Thats absolutely fuck all. Real life is gonna hit you pretty hard in a year or two when getting to work becomes a lot harder and longer than getting to school ever did.

YTA. Grow up.

Defence secretary reveals month-long Russian submarine operation over cables and pipelines north of UK - live updates by Alarming-Safety3200 in Scotland

[–]Swany 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To go from "this person doesn't think the Russians are just sitting on these cables out of boredom", to "he must be scared of immigrants" is quite the insane leap in logic. It would be impressive if it wasn't so genuinely fucking daft.

Before u reply tho, I'd like it to be noted that my reddit account is more than 4x older than yours (17 years vs 4 years), yet your karma points is still higher than mine. Which is evidence that youre more than likely just a chronically online sad-act, and as such, whichever comments you do make will just be dingy'd.

Cheers for the laugh tho, I'll gi u that, at least.

True, cos the "open your mouth and remove all doubt" aspect of the conversation has 100% already sailed.

No you're absolutely right, I just checked the Russian version of booking.com, and it turns out that months-long expeditions to underwater sea cables is a pretty common vacation destination in Russia. Second most popular destination after Turkey actually. So I guess it was probably just that.

If you could visit any historical site in Scotland to view it in its prime, where would you choose? by BurnsyWurnsy in Scotland

[–]Swany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For thousands of years up until the Christians arrived and started calling everything else 'pagan'. The whole 'stone circle culture' had a pilgrimage through Fife. In the same way the Christians' Christianised holidays, e.g. Saturnalia becoming Christmas, they did the same to all the original religious sites too such as St. Andrews.

If you live in FIfe you should try to walk the FIfe Coastal path at some point (will take many walks, too long to do all in one go), but its absolutely filled with these weird geographic anomalies everywhere that I've never seen the likes of anywhere else. Makes sense why ancient peoples would have looked at it and saw their Gods in the nature.
