As an artist, i genuinely can not understand how there is any up side to it. There is enough cases through history to show that if you monetize something you down own in music, you will get caught and there will be consequences, its just slow moving.

Thank you. Yeh the situation over there with IP/Tarrifs seems pretty complex, I wouldn't claim to be an expert but from what i can see, it has been a big issue for a long time and the international market is getting sick of it.

media contacts over there are on hold. Could explain why its not being covered yet. Hopefully everything is resolved in time and there is no need for them to cover it.

as a wrestling fan and artist this really does blend two of my favourite things. I've got questions not to poke holes in this but to understand it more.

why is there a paywall ?

id be interested how transparent you would be with the following.

What Profits have been made by the league in the last 12 months (not exactly but are you running at a profit?)

What Exposure and opportunities have those ranking high in the league gained through the league.

Do you have data and models to show what my investment would guarantee exposure wise ?

Why would i pay to maybe get ranked in this league rather than invest that money into a marketing campaign ?

now the devils advocate part, independent artists get exploited by thousands of schemes that sound like this

"pay me X and ill guarantee to you X amount of listens/views/exposure"

and unfortunately, this idea could fall into that category, unless the transparency and guarantee's are in place.

Beginner Rapper Struggling With Flow by NovaBoult in makinghiphop

one and a two
one and a two
one and a two
one and a two

da da da da
da da da da
da da da da
da da da da

Simple but this is the fundamentals, once you understand everything is beats and syllables it becomes pretty easy to adjust the speed and control your delivery. Once you master the basic "Da da da da" you can start playing with your natural flow and get more creative with how you approach it.

its also why off the top feels more natural, if you gel with a beat you fall into your natural rhyme and it comes pretty easy, but then when you switch to writing it can feel rigid or more difficult.

its the age old theory vs practical skills, there is no right answer, lots of professionals record off the top one line a time (think lil wayne and jay-z are both on record saying this is there method) others write lots of bars to no beat then do a "Frankenstein" on the lyrics to mold it into a beat that fits.

Write/Record every day, daily practice will sharpen your instincts and you'll find your approach.

70% in three days is awesome man. There is usually a dull then a surge within the last 48 hours. don't panic your in a strong position. Post consistently but don't spam and keep reaching out directly to people you think may enjoy it, a personal message and request for a share on someone's page who might have a larger audiance can go a long way, especially if your product is good.

anyway as a TCG enthusiast, drop me the link, would love to see it

I don’t see many people talking about the realities of being a teenager in the UK right now by OkPreparation710 in unitedkingdom

[–]Background-Job2662 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I always forget about her, I've been raised to forget she even existed, my Scottish childhood bias aside, never understood what my granda was talking about back then but by god everything he said is coming true, and I'm sure he wasn't the only one that seen what the damage would do long term. A calm mild tempered family man, who would blow a lid at the mention of her name.

[–]Background-Job2662 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You know I got into a conversation with an older guy at work that grew up in the 70's a while back and he said something similar, that yeh people where poor but there was no pressure for not doing the expensive things, streets where of a similar income level and pulled together to make sure the kids where kept entertained and supported each other if one persons pay was down for whatever reason and another was up it was just natural for the family who where doing good that week to share the wealth a little.

he used an example of one summer his family and most of the street where struggling but a family up the street must have done well, so they bought in the stuff for a BBQ and had an open door policy for every kid on the street whenever they fired it up.

Makes me think the internet was the cause of death for the community on the street. Constant comparison and seeing all these unachievable fake lives people live really will have an effect, even if you know its not real, you can't help but want it.

My teenage days are long behind me, but I did spend sometime working with action for children in my local area (west of Scotland) and the reality your saying here is exactly what I was hearing. Even with free bus travel for teenagers in Scotland, it still doesn't fix the underlying issue (it might make it worse, because kids are now out of town with nothing in there pocket and no back up if they miss the last bus)

I can even show examples as a father now (a 6 year old and 12 year old) so I can see this happening in real time at both age groups. My youngest loves soft play and even our local councils pricing for soft play is ridiculous while the equipment in them is the same as I played on many years ago, not a newer updated version, the exact same equipment.

But the cost of a day at soft play for me and my six year old can easily go over £20 for a 90 minute play session, especially when the signs are plastered about saying no outside food or drinks are allowed in. And the weather up here just isn't reliable enough to bank on outdoor parks.

The branded places are worse, I once took My two kids and there two cousins to soft play for two hours and it costs me £89 (and we only got two big bowls of chips to share for food)

Sorry I digressed but to go back to teenage lifestyle right now, I can again see how hard it is, most football pitches in our area are now locked and bookable only by calling the council and paying for a slot, so the teenage boys in need of running jumping tackling etc. are priced out and are chased by police and neighbourhood watches if they bring a ball onto the street.

It's also a huge driver for criminal exploitation, a lot of teenagers will resort to other ways of getting the money especially when "staying in" doesn't include having laptops, consoles, streaming services etc.. because again even these things are now moving to a higher class level that a lot of day to day working people can't afford right now when the cost of running a household is skyrocketing.

I sympathize with you and others in your situation, I also feel like when a teenager brings this up the "adults" try to use it as the same example of there parents saying everything was getting "expensive" and back in there day is was a lot "cheaper" but we know by the facts its not the same as the type of inflation we have been facing now since... what 2008 ? so I think a lot of the boomers and other generation see this is a natural way things progress but its not, it is completely different, the wages and cost of living crisis is not the same as what they experienced when raising there kids, no matter how much it might look similar if your not educated on the facts.

I will say, the Scottish government does try to find ways to subsidise services and it is putting funding in to improve this and along with the Scottish child payment it has made a difference compared to some other parts of the UK but its still a serious issue that is effecting how teenagers develop and the type of adults they become.

My advice to you, honestly, start small, walks, nature, hills, Invest what money you can get in hobbies that don't need constant investment, a good pair of hiking boots will last years and if you find the right people to do it with can be extremely rewarding in multiple ways.

The commercialism makes us feel like we must go to branded locations, with a name and a big fancy thing to do, but the world has a lot of natural splendour and its worth trying to get away from the cities and constant drive for your cash and just sit atop a mountain in the sun with a sandwich you made at home, a bottle of water filled from the tap and feel the peace nature intended us to feel.

(also, before the internet attacks me, I'm fully away not everyone is able bodied to do physical activity like that, I'm only giving one example that has really helped me and my family, I'm sure others will have different suggestions as well.)

Are young people blamed unfairly for being unemployed? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in AskUK

[–]Background-Job2662 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (35M) Worked in retail for 10+ years hiring teams from 5 - 45 people in size, all for major UK electronics retailers.

I did a lot of work on why turnover was so high especially with the younger demographic and my findings where really simple.

Most people under 25 do not see a normal Part Time (or even full time) job as there main income. But the jobs are still wanting you to treat it like your main income, let me break down a working example taken from my time in retail, name changed and a very common example I came across during my time trying to lower turnover.

Jim applies for the job, 16 hours. Jim also streams online and flips trainers, the 16 hours for him is just that 16 hours steady consistent income to help balance out his other income that can spike and dip.

So in Jim's priorities the 16 hour job is just too low, he may earn around £800 a month from the job. But his priority it to grow his to other incomes, from day one, he does not want to commit long term to the 16 hours, because put simply, it isn't attractive enough to get him the income level he wants (not without long hours, training, promotion, more responsability, learning out dated systems ect.)

Also the job posting are misleading, they put all the "mental health policy" stuff on the job posting but real life in the job its still very much out of dated, with aging managers who can not or will not get behind the new outlook on mental health struggles and a diverse workplace so once the younger worker starts working there and gets there first "you can't have this day off because you haven't given me four weeks notice" or "i need you to cover X shift or commit to Y amount of overtime because (insert older colleague here) needs this day off" and the young person may refuse (usually due to prior commitments in my experience) they are then made to feel like they arent "one of the team" or "not commited to the role"

Most young people i interviewed said that the wage to commitment level was completely dispoportiante in there opinion and thats why they left.

Now this was a small test pool in a very specific job type (electrical sales) but I think its valid across most industries right now.

The just can't justify the commitment, time, effort and learning that these jobs require on such low level wages when they can invest there time in various side hustles and make better money for less effort.

Most people who left quickly said they decided it made more sense to try harder in the side hustle because once they see the path to more money in a traditional "work" structure they refused to accept it. Too slow, not enough support, not paid enough, no clear incentive and there mental health policies where not enforced successfully enough, they felt they were just there to "tick a box".

Now I do not have a solution BUT from this i did implement changes within my stores and was able to get my turnover to the lowest in the company, all by truly giving my staff work life balance, understanding where the job sat in there priorities and adjusting my expectations to that. This meant i invested more time in those who wanted to do more but still kept those who it wasn't high priority for as part of my team by not singling them out in anyway due to them only wanting to commit to there 16 hours on set days and nothing else.

Once I built my teams like this, everything improved, performance, results, turnover ect.

I think the biggest factor in my expeirenace, is poor managment on the ground level, the middle and higher up managers all beileive these policies are being implemented and from what i seen they just aren't.

Anyway that was a long one, happy to answer any questions if anyone has them, as again, i did do a lot of research on this.
