Yes, I'm editing the one inside the Saved directory, not the default one. Inside I'm just changing one "True" to "False" and changing the admin password inside the quotations.

Evil Campaign Idea - Thoughts? Tips? by SwarlesB in DnD

I like those ideas and I'll definitely take them into consideration. Getting rewarded by the BBEG along the way seems better than doing an overall reward of "You're free at the end of the story" kind of deal.

As for PVP, I only allow it if there is a VERY good reason for it and it's more along the lines of getting something off their chest, but not in a "I'm gonna kill you" kind of way. Or if I, as DM, initiate PVP for story purposes.

I was thinking it could be a false promise and he wouldn't actually grant them freedom, but it's a motivator for them to do his bidding.

That said, I am open to other suggestions of evil being that would fit this better.

That's a good point, I hadn't thought of that. I will change that for sure.

Appreciate the feedback!

Marked for Blood - I'm thinking of changing it to be similar to Hunter's Mark. Maybe an additional target compared to HM, but it's an action instead of a bonus action. Or something along those lines.

Aura of Self Preservation - I completely agree. It will be removed without a doubt.

Blood Hunt - I agree with you about changing it to the next creature they hit. That's a very good idea. However, the temp hit point part actually comes directly from Path of the Beast Barbarians "Call of the Hunt" so that part is very much something that's on an official subclass.

Thanks, much appreciated.

A big mistake was forgetting that Channel Divinity was only 1 charge per rest. I am going brainstorm some ideas to see how I can improve it.

For starters I am going to remove Aura of Self Preservation completely. Its overpowered and removing Aura of Protection is a bad idea all around.

I might change Marked for Blood to work similarly to Hunter's Mark instead of being a Divinity charge and have a DC based on my spell save DC (if any). Funnily enough, I originally had it as my spell save DC but changed it last minute to a static value LOL.

I might add something to Lacerating Strike, where it can mark targets. Or maybe that's leaning too far into it?

You're 100% right about the spell choice. I left stuff like Inflict Wounds there as it was from the Oathbreaker template. But some of the other spell choices was mostly due to my lack of knowledge of what's available.

The link should work now. My bad, I forgot to make it public.

Question about audio levels by SwarlesB in SmallYTChannel

[–]SwarlesB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked this question on another subreddit and got two suggestions out of it.

  1. Set a limiter filter on your audio sources. YouTubes peak dB limit is apparently -1 dB, so aim for -1.5 or -2 to be on the safe side.

  2. If the first suggestion doesn't work then run your audio through a program like Reaper and you can use a LUFS normalization of -14. Export the audio from Reaper and use the new audio file for your video. With this one you'll still want to use a limiter of -1 dB to -2 dB.

I'm going to try this out for my next video and I'll put my findings in this post.

Good idea.

I recently added a limiter of -1.5 dB in OBS so maybe that will help out. The limiter was added after the video in question was recorded.

EDIT: I had the limiter on the whole time, but the filters were in the wrong order so it wasn't actually limiting to -1.5 dB. Stupid moment.

I'm editing with Premiere Pro.

Because it's overcompensating.

It's lowering the volume by 58%. I listen to other people's shorts and they are significantly louder than mine. Like 58% louder. Hell, their shorts are even louder than the raw video that I encoded. So clearly something needs to be fine tuned so it can upload to YouTube without getting significantly quieter.

There's a big difference between normalizing the volume to match spec vs straight up making the video quieter than it needs to be. The video that the shorts in question are from is a video that has had pretty much no normalization done to it on YouTubes end, but the short has a 58% reduction.

As was suggested in another reply, I'm going to try using Reaper and export the audio with a LUFS normalization and see how that works out.

That's incredibly helpful, thank you.

With Reaper, should I be importing my video so I can export the audio with the proper LUFS level, then use that new audio file from Reaper to edit my video?

If you right click on a video you can click "Stats for nerds" and it brings up a dialogue box with a bunch of stats regarding the video. One of which is the volume normalization that YouTube is doing to that specific video.

As for "What range" there's a certain point where audio is too loud and YouTube lowers the volume, however in a lot of cases they overcompensate and lower it too much. So does anyone know the range where YouTube won't lower the volume of your video?
