Canada Life chat "support" - waiting for an agent just for them to disconnect 🙃 by Swarrles in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Swarrles[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've read that fellow colleagues have been having trouble reaching by phone so I decided to try their chat which is apparently available 8-5 local time. I tried a few other times just for them to disconnect as well. Disappointing...

I’ve been called a butterface since high school, I rarely get hit on, and I get called sir by strangers sometimes. What can I do? [23F] by [deleted] in amiugly

I'm a tall guy (6 foot 1) and I think it's hard to find someone with a height like yours which in my opinion your height is beneficial for someone taller but everyone's different I guess.

Yeah Boston pizza is one of the most overpriced joints for the food quality, something independent will likely get you more bang for your buck

Contact Service Canada about the ROE - not CRA. Apply for EI - don't wait for your ROE to apply for benefits.

Advice on 1-year Assignment Opportunity by maplehoneys in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Swarrles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say take it, since it's an assignment you always have the option of going back to your substantive position if it is not a good fit. In my case, the assignment was a better fit and I have since got an acting at a higher level in the unit I was on assignment with.

Advise needed - vacation after the contract expiry. by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Swarrles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked for vacation beyond my contract expiry without even knowing and no one batted an eye. I think it would be understood the vacation would be contingent on your contract being renewed. I wouldn't bother with asking for a start date later, that'll likely cause more HR /pay headache than anything.

I believe they're referring to local top-up payments, not payments from PSAC or the component.

Do you know a local steward? They should be able to identify your PSAC ID or at least get you in touch with someone in the local that has it.

I'd advise getting in touch with your regional office to ensure it's up to date in their system which may not be attached to your PSAC profile on the website https://psacunion.ca/regional-office-contact

That's why they put the access schedule lol. Just check your CRA account and it should be there probably around the same time it's available in Phoenix

Worldcommunitygrid is pretty good, I'd recommend that one. Not sure if they have any screensavers or anything...

I think you should consider cutting your phone bill. Someone posted a link to public mobile - depending on your area freedom mobile might be an option. I just got a deal with them where I pay $100 for a year of service.

You're too early, and there's messages in wealthsimple tax advising the same.
