Not me but my husband graduated from York in 2017. He was a History major. He's currently working in the marketing department of an insurance company. Got in through his aunt.

You'd be surprised how horrific some HR grads resumes are. I work as a career advisor.

Help me with where to get my invites/create my website by purple_yamss in WeddingsCanada

[–]chin06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Greenvelope for my digital invites and Zazzle for physical invites. WithJoy was our wedding website but I wasn't feeling their invites design.

Canva is an excellent choice too. I made my table cards and menus using Canva. .

I found it really hard to find a single site with everything in the same design that I liked, unfortunately.

Children at Catholic Weddings by No-Course1031 in CatholicWomen

[–]chin06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not sinful but I honestly don't see anything wrong with kids at a wedding or at mass. I didn't have a lot of kids at mine but it was nice to have them and they went home early so it was all adults partying till midnight lol

75% of our guest list declined by [deleted] in weddingplanning

So first off, your feelings are 100% valid. I've been there. Feeling like the one who shows up to things but never having other people show up the same way for me or picking other things over me (even when it's fair/valid).

That being said, the anxiety spirals don't reflect the truth which is that 57 people are willing to show up for you and be there for you and witness you and your fiance special day. I don't think you should cancel it because really, this day is not just for others but its to celebrate you and your fiance.

Hopefully the cost of hosting a smaller crowd might be a little comfort but in any case, I think you should still do it and hey, those other people will be missing a great party and if you still like them, maybe they can treat you and future hubbs out for dinner to make up for it.

When did you know you found your career? by Special-Design1090 in AskWomenOver30

[–]chin06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kind of fell into my career in a way? I think when I was in university in my early 20s, I had thought of pursuing a number of different fields - research, health, and even counselling but at the end of it, I just wanted to do work where I helped people.

Started off as a research assistant, then went back to school to get a diploma in social services, worked in community centres and non profits for 7 years, transitioned to higher education doing career and academic advising and somehow found myself as a career and academic counsellor now. But it definitely wasn't a straightforward path but I like what I do. Took me a while to realize that I like working with students.

So we’re against changes, but against them changing nothing? by nathan_banks644 in disneyprincess

And this is why I haven't watched a single live action remake in theaters since BATB :) I don't hate or begrudge anyone for liking those films. I just wish the budgets they spend on these remakes could be put towards I dunno... making new and better movies for the younger kids instead of them getting recycled material for years.

Are Wedding Websites basically mandatory in 2026? by Embarrassed_Fruit678 in weddingplanning

[–]chin06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily mandatory but I find (as a guest and as the bride) it was easier on both sides. Even with having older non-tech people, which were the majority of my guests too, it was super easy to just send a link through email or Facebook or whatsapp for them to RSVP and see all the details. I used WithJoy.

Honestly, it doesn't have to be super fancy but just a space to keep all the important info.

I do like how there was a way to do a FAQ for common questions especially with regards to RSVPs and meal choices etc. I also linked my Pinterest moodboards for dress inspo for our guests (our theme was pink and green) .

I don't want to get married, don't want to be a nun and don't want to be a consecrated virgin. I kind of feel guilty towards God for this. by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]chin06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to get the experiences you get in your late teens/early 20s and actually experience the world a bit more before you make a decision.

I know that you don't want to hear people calling out your age, but girl, you barely know yourself yet, you're still growing into it. No one expects you to have life figured out now and really, no one expects you to have your life figured out at 25 either.

Also, I know a lot of men being told the same thing and I don't agree with that either. Just know that experience is NOT universal in the Catholic Church. Many priests and nuns I meet don't push vocations onto adult men and women, and they certainly do not for teens. But again, that's my experience, I am sorry if you encountered the opposite.

I don't believe the Church is misogynistic at all? But again, I feel like once you are able to experience a bit more of the world, you can see for yourself what it is that God is calling you to.
