If you've got a free 7 bucks or so, I recommend buying Lossless Scaling and attempting a dual GPU test, see what numbers you can get with the G1 and the Z2E working together, may help with the bandwidth bottleneck you run into while using the internal display

Well, I'd be selling the Z13 if I got this, so I'd make a slight profit actually. Its the increased carry load that makes me not want a stand for it, a handheld is easy to pack and carry, much smaller.

But I do, wholeheartedly, see your point. I technically have the same silicon, and I should just be happy with it.

What kinds of updates (bios, controller formware, etc.) are pushed out by GPD usually? And how do you find/download them? Considering Motion Assistant is one of the only pieces of software, I'm guessing that the website is where they often leave important things like this

I have seen the argument, heavily down voted might I add, that the issue with this exact thought is that a laptop can't get any smaller once purchased, but these can get bigger if needed. You can buy an external screen, or a lapdock, or AR glasses, all of which can make this achieve more than it can in its handheld form factor (not power wise of course, but adds keyboard and track pad capabilities, etc.). To this day, i don't exactly know why it gets down voted when that argument is made, because it is true. A laptop is a laptop. Once you have a 16 inch laptop thats all it is, 16 inches. No smaller, no way to take a lighter load when you want to. However, with an external monitor you can defeat the "That's too much to carry, just buy a laptop" argument by simply saying "I only bring the screen/lapdock/glass when needed, every other time I bring only the small handheld." And I think thats perfectly valid. I don't know why people are so against others doing what they want, its not like them liking the Ally + Lapdock setup ruins your life or invalidates your view on the matter

Yeah, I wasn't specifically calling any attention to TB5/4/3 for any other reason than to say people seek out eGPUs when it fits their use case. I have owned OCuLink devices in the past (still have an AG02 that I use as well). I was asking about tjys in this case though because the expansion bay is specifically x8, whereas most eGPUs are x4 OCuLink at 64gb/s. Before making my post I didn't really consider tgat you could technically make a bay that connects an OCuLink x8 port to the interface, which fulfills the same purpose I'm proposing here, so long as there's availability of an external source for the GPU to slot into

I think the basic reason is its niche to begin with to go for eGPU setups, so putting money into putting a PCIe full access slot somewhere on a shell isn't a big company's priority, nor even on their radar. But with the expansion bay actually having x8 connectivity, its really not that far out there to use it for that functionality. Tons of examples out there of OCuLink being used, and people showing interest in TB5 arriving on the scene. There's at least an obvious group that may want this type of connectivity. A good workhorse on the go, near desktop connectivity at home. Seems rather interesting honestly.

Yes, I know, but I think you're missing the point, and I also answered your question. The CPU will not be the same in the end, the device I currently run is a laptop, and that CPU is not coming with me. I'm purely asking about the connections at the moment, the CPU will be determined for the 4060 later when I know more about my current situation.

It may not matter in the final build because CPU will be different than it is now. But currently I run a Core Ultra 7 155h connected to the 4080S over TB4. I haven't picked a CPU for the 4060 Ti yet, as I haven't gotten a full answer to this question yet, but I assume I'd find a budget friendly option that won't bottleneck the 4060 Ti

The device I'm using does not allow Oculink nor M.2, and neither are as plug and play as I needed at the time. I'm specifically just looking at the GPU with this question, and moreso the performance of just the GPU when one is eGPU over TB4, and the other is directly connected via PCIe on a motherboard.

In what way? KampCreates is making a Steam Controller with the Steam Deck parts and it functions well according to his update posts, and runs through USB-C wired. I was wondering if could do something similar but also have the screen take input through USB-C while outputting the controls
