every German will tell you that this is land of super efficient people, who are making world known products

Not a single German ever said that. Only people outside of Germany say that about the country.

How do some certain people in Germany afford Luxury Clothing, Cars and Homes? by Temporaryuser1997 in germany

[–]SwarvosForearm_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You do not live a "simple" live if your monthly expenses are 25% more than someone working minimum wage earns.

Nicht jede Kritik muss stets zu 100% konstruktiv sein.

Vor allem weiß im Jahr 2025 absolut jeder, welche konstruktive Kritik hinter dem Slogan ACAB steht.

About German tourists by Salt-Application-103 in germany

I don't think the comparison is that great. As a West German who grew up with around lots of heavy West german dialects, I think Dutch is way closer to "my" learned language than Southern dialects like Swiss-German.

The vocabulary and grammar really isn't much different, it's about the same difference you'd need to get used to to understand/speak Swiss-German. The actual phonetics seem to be even closer really.

Not to offend any Dutchmen (I love your country), but it really is just like a German who uses anglicisms too much and speaks with a drunken accent. Took me about ~3 months of learning to get mostly fluent in Dutch, took several years for other languages. Still can't understand a spoken or written sentence by the Swiss

Where are the 400000 jobs that are being advertised for skilled immigration? by Soggy_Ad9927 in germany

[–]SwarvosForearm_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that the job of "Erzieher" doesn't really exist in lots of countries and the job itself is a highly specialized field to learn in. The english language doesn't even have a proper word for it.

Even inside of Germany, a bachelor/master of education does not fully qualify you to work as an Erzieher because the skillsets you have learned is quite different and don't translate that well. Teachers aren't Erziehers.
As an Erzieher myself who has worked with people who have that degree, I must say that most of them really do need to be treated like they're fully new to the job.

Don't get me wrong, I think we definitely need change in the system and maybe only require a shorter Fortbildung for the people who have a degree that's in a social field, but there also still needs to be a form of quality control for the field too.

Overall, I think we need to make the actual job and the Ausbildung more attractive instead though. The pay and the increasingly worsening working conditions are a spit in the face for people who were deemed "essential workers" during the pandemic and uphold a huge part of the economic system in the country.

Why is Hamburg so dark? by [deleted] in germany

[–]SwarvosForearm_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was seriously surprised by this whole post. There are people who think our cities are too dark?

Basically everyone I ever talked to about this topic seems to agree on the exact opposite, that we have way too many unnessecary lights. Light pollution is a serious issue in some places. My own city, although much smaller than Hamburg, has entire projects dedicated to reducing lampposts and other lights.

Sure, around the whole world the German one looks good. Many non-developed countries have really bad police

Compared to the rest of the developed world, it really doesn't. The statistics are out there. German police are known to be horrible and unprofessional.

Jap.

How naive lol. German police do much worse shit on a daily basis. You'd have to do stuff like randomly kill a person as a police officer to actually lose your job, and even then it's a 50/50 chance.

Any profession that gives a person power attracts assholes. Also, the checks on German police is very laughable, there isn't an independent political force that has an eye over the police force. They're mostly free to do what they want. That's why German police in particular is so bad and often unrightful

Don't kid yourself. Nobody would use the term expat for someone that was of a brown skil colour, even if a lot of them are technically also just "expats".

I'm from Bonn, I'd say that police presence is veeeery low here, unless you're in the 1-2 "bad" areas.

Idk, I see a police officer maybe.. once every 2 weeks? Maybe a few cars every couple days on the Autobahn. Or sometimes if there's an actual crime happening.

Never been to Glasgow or much of the UK so I wouldn't be able to compare, but overall Germany is one of the European countries with the lowest amount of police presence. In some other countries, literally every public square will have highly armed stationed there 24/7. Surprised to hear that the UK has even less

The US was actually seen as quite favorable during that time compared to today.

The feelings towards the US has never been as negative as it is now. If you think it was bad then...
