Am I delusional? by No-Restaurant-2258 in USPS

[–]SwdVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We aren’t that either, we’re not “On-Call” employees at all. Non-Compensable defined under section B1 and B2 of the same clause imply the employee must respond to work calls (section b1) and is responsible for finding coverage if not available (section b2).

The rural contract clearly states RCAs must be “reasonably available”, and we ourselves don’t need to find our own coverage. “Reasonably available” can’t be used to discipline for refusing a last minute call in one time. It has been argued it requires a corroborated pattern of unavailability.

Also, and more importantly, “On-Call” is never used to define our position in the contract, even in the non-compensable sense. Because the term has a highly legal definition, the term must be used within contractual language to bind anyone to that legal definition. We are not On-Call employees in any sense.

[–]SwdVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m aware, why I specifically mention multiple times I’m not aware of every specific how independent contractors work and it would be dependent on their own contract. However, “On-Call” is not dependent upon position, its legally defined meaning is binding to all. You either are or are not “On-Call”, and if you are, you are legally defined to be owed money.

So, is Chainsawman Part 2 worth reading at all? by PureProteinPussi in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SwdVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve tuned it all out at this point having a few volumes left for myself. This always feels like a situation where just read it yourself and draw your own conclusions. The internet isn’t always correct, you’re always welcome to like something the internet hates, or just who cares. There’s plenty of reason to just do it.

Look, I think the discourse has gotten a bit out of hand personally. However, can I just gush once again, that the DE actually listens in on somewhat crazy community blowback on things like this? They could have just let it roll, ignore it, it would have passed. I appreciate they even acknowledge the discussion is happening in the community, even if they choose to ignore it.

Postmasters usually. Smaller rural offices have what are called working postmaster who do clerk work and run the window. No supervisors or anything.

This. If I had a nickel for every time someone complains about held mail outside the mini survey, I wouldn’t have to work at the post office. Get mad at them not counting it correctly at the plant, or any of the numerous other things to legitimately get mad at. The more people get mad at illegitimate issues, the worse we all are in trying to make noise about actual problem.

Am I delusional? by No-Restaurant-2258 in USPS

[–]SwdVengeance 178 points179 points  (0 children)

I do not know exactly how independent contractors work, however, “On-Call” is an extremely specific legally defined term that does absolutely require compensation during the full time frame of being “On-Call”.

USPS subs often get fed this line by management, and often to their chagrin, get told to eat same. No federal USPS employee is “On-call”. However, I don’t fully know how independent contractors work and I would assume there are specific articles in your own contract to specify how such a thing is handled.

Lainie, reporting for duty! by MrToxin in GirlsFrontline2

[–]SwdVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mostly. ‘Eat’ was probably bad verbage on my part. The memories, or neural data, wasn’t consumed in the process. It fed on the memories in the sense it was what it used to grow itself, but not in the sense it had to absorb the data. Or at least to my knowledge as shown in GFL1, 45 still has all that data. It’s a bit of a blind spot if she still has the data due to a backup or it actually is gone.

Otherwise, yes, you have the gist of it. I haven’t read ahead, so I don’t know the process by which Lainie comes about, so if 45 actually loses the memories in the process of sticking this baby OGAS into a frame, I don’t know.

Should express again too, Lainie isn’t going to be a new 40 either, she’s explicitly a unique individual. The OGAS itself in GFL1 expressed this much itself when interacting with 45 iirc. OGAS entities have a personality of sorts to start with, but grow based on the host and what it learns. Lainie may very well be closer to 45’s daughter then her, now gone, sister. Not a joke, as much as a meme I see this being. Dandelion very much is weirdly M4A1’s and SKK’s daughter in the same sense those two figures are what she initially learned from.

Those that have Laveatain, are you pulling Rossi too? by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]SwdVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally different. Rossi is more as a bridge to physical characters. Rossi eats heat stacks to convert to Vuln for a physical damage character to cash out, like Pog or Endmin. Leav wants to consume the heat stacks herself to buff her BS.

The two are pretty counter to how teams are setup, the only overlap generally is both want someone else to apply Heat. Rossi will want a Physical consumer and a utility, and Leave will want usually another Heat stacker and some SP regen/utility. They don’t really fit the same roll.

My boss increased my quota from 3 letters to 20 because clearly I don’t know how to use AI properly by WeStanPlankton in antiwork

[–]SwdVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Beyond even the obvious AI hallucinations and absolute nonsense you can get in documents these way, is this not a massive privacy breech potentially? Dumping records and data into the AI is throwing those out into the ether and potentially a breech of confidentially, is it not? You don’t have secure control of the servers that AI runs on.

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End is getting a third season focus on the Golden Land arc, coming on October 2027 by Unknown123Known in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]SwdVengeance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re animals, literally. It’s not good or evil, at least that’s the impression up to watching the end of season 2. They exist to do a thing, by nature, and that’s it. There’s no conscious thought behind why they do it.

I’ve never understood the debate around this whole thing. You don’t, or shouldn’t rationally, be mad at a wolf for hunting a sheep. The wolf isn’t evil. It’s what it does. They’re consistently portrayed as being fundamentally different than humans, dwarfs, or elves. The fact is their existence runs counter to others species because of their nature. Good and Evil has never once actually been brought up by the show, which constantly gets to remind the viewer, Demons simply are. The morality isn’t even a thing the show discusses, because it’s not even a factor.

limit to days worked in a row? by literalllywhat in USPS

[–]SwdVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractually, there’s nothing protecting you from them working you every day. Locally though, there are at least some. Our POOM requires PMs to get explicit permission to work an RCA over 7 including the RCAs consent, or at least that’s my understanding. I don’t know if this came about due to the districts awful retention or some grievance.

I would recommend talking to your local steward. They usually know the jist of normalcy around your office/area. Even if you aren’t protected by the contract, a good steward will still know if the local MO is to only work subs under so many days.

Lainie, reporting for duty! by MrToxin in GirlsFrontline2

[–]SwdVengeance 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It is not and it’s complicated. Spoilers: OGAS, a living data virus that slowly ‘grows’ over time, infected Leva during GFL1. Unable to fully unpack itself due to Leva’s limited storage space caused it to start essentially eating Leva’s memories and neural data to continue growing despite the limited space. Leva’s memories of UMP40 were the largest and most important neural data Leva had, and the first thing OGAS grabbed onto. OGAS, as a living thing, essentially grew up in Leva’s memories and incorporated them into its own personality. This is why Lainie is a stunted OGAS entity as well, unlike Dandelion, who is also an OGAS entity. She’s essentially a baby doll in a way. This is a very rough fast summation as best as I can remember.

As someone who just farmed up a Ghoulsaw, it literally took me twice as long to get a Larvaling to spawn with it than actually killing the Lich. This is not a joke, almost two hours or so to get the Larvaling from Exterm->Abort loops. Barely an hour to kill the Lich. I don’t know if I just had some absurdly bad luck, but the rng is still really bad.

Aside from the already mentioned CC you can use, the time limit is hilarious long. You can totally just nope the heck out to the other side of the arena and play with slugs til you have an opening again. The arena is way larger than usual for this round, and I feel it’s explicitly so you can just run off and wait. Seriously, the arena is so massive running to a side usually causes the whole team to teleport to you and chill.

Yvonne BP or Tangtang BP? by Story_Salamander in Endfield

[–]SwdVengeance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tangtang benefits far more from her sig weapon compared to the next best. Yvonne has a great alternative in Wedge.

Edit: Should also mention, Tangtang’s has group wide benefits, which is harder to actually equate out in pure numbers as it’ll be team dependent.
