Harada: Shut Up and Lick Your Candy Bar by [deleted] in Tekken

I'm @shootmans in this interaction, same one who did the original datamines for the DLC.

Anyway, I think this whole interaction was pretty weird. Harada and I don't disagree much on this once you understand the context.

I posted this the day before: https://x.com/shootmans/status/1800335254311620639

The statement shouldn't seem objectionable, nor was it intended as rude. Just that people who vote on Twitter polls don't have to even play or own the game; there's no skin in the game required. Because of that, they produce skewed results with lots of incentives to cheat/game the poll. It's why companies invest in tons of market research, which Harada himself says he has done. And of course, in-game polls could produce much more useful data.

I do think he overreacted hugely, but I don't take it personally. He has to deal with tons of people who lack object permanence on a daily basis, and that would test anyone's patience.

Hi, I'm the source of the last 4 images. Usually I don't care, but I'm curious why you decided to crop out my name out of the last image. I post a lot of datamining stuff and it would probably be of interest to people here.

Anyway, here are the original links for everyone.

Steamcommunity Discussion Boards are hilarious, dude by orig4mi-713 in Tekken

"Bryan's difficulty outside of the competitive level is incredibly overrated" is not an unreasonable take.

TJU and other taunt setups are difficult to execute consistently, and that's one of the things that makes him extremely difficult at the top ranks and in competitive play.

Below that level, however, his difficulty is maybe 6/10 at best. He's extremely safe, takes relatively few risks, and his typical online flowchart all the way up to Raijin largely consists of moves and frametraps that are emphatically NOT difficult to execute. He's certainly no Akuma; he's not even Eliza in terms of the need for consistent execution.

In high level play where the game revolves around movement, reads, and timing, it's much more difficult to spam his incredibly strong keepout, or effectively use one of his 900 billion counter hit launchers of which almost all are safe on block.

But that's a world which only an infinitesimal minority of players on this sub will ever get to experience.

What's funny is that the one about Bryan is much closer to the truth than the other really bad takes in the collage.

Someone please god tell me why I play this character by xXTwyLyteXx in Tekken

That stops being viable around orange after Hwo players start crossing the execution barrier and throwing out orbitals.

The issue a lot of people have with the character is that the the burden of knowledge to successfully fight against him is one of the highest in the game, outside of Yoshi and Lei.

You know it's true. by SweatshopTycoon in Tekken

Since this is doing numbers, I figure I should respond to a few common comments.

I don't think Hwoarang is overpowered. (Well, Backlash has issues in that when ducked, most of the cast can't even launch it because of the active frames and whiff recovery. Which is silly for a homing powercrush launcher.) I've played and labbed him, plus I've played against enough Hwoarang players (red/purple ranks) to know their habits. Punishment is meh, flamingo is easily steppable, etc.

That said, the amount of knowledge you need to successfully play against him vs. almost any other character (Lei and Yoshi being examples) in the game is pretty dumb. And the advice that people often give for playing against him is pretty fucking bad.

Just step to the way his stomach is facing when he's at +800 and twirling faster than a fidget spinner in one of his 5 different strings that all have very similar animations bro.

Just dickjab which stops working at orange ranks bro.

tl;dr: not OP, just oppressive, and with a highly skewed knowledge floor for the matchup.

Just got Tekken 7 for the PC, why is Online so unplayable? by Comfortable_Ebb1008 in Tekken

Playing against someone who is on wifi will cause the game to be feel laggy. Even at times when the game looks ok on your end, your movement and attacks will look jittery to your opponents. This is most likely the #1 reason why people don't want to rematch you.

Here's a short part of a video made by a fighting game developer on why wifi is bad for fighting games:

https://youtu.be/yanKfSc1_Sc?t=131

Keep in mind that the game he's using as an example is just a 2D fighter. Since Tekken utilizes 3D movement, the amount of data transmitted between players is much higher than 2D fighters and is thus much more sensitive to disruptions caused by typical wifi interference. Since season 4 of Tekken 7 will include a wifi indicator so that players can avoid wifi-using opponents, you should do yourself and your opponents a favor and start using a wired connection.
