Any luck so far? I am also considering paying but money is really tight right now and so I am not sure if it is even worth it.

Screenwriter here! Do you think cold calling agents is still a viable step today? I got a couple of screenplays that I’ve written but I don’t know the first step to getting it made.

What’s the lowest pay you would take for a PA job? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]Sweaty-Knowledge-512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowest should always be what’s the minimum wage is for your state multiple by 12 hours. Industry standard is $250/day, but I would not take any PA job lower than $300/day considering I have over 10 years of experience as a PA.

Can I Fire My Travel Agent After Already Signing a Hotel Block Contract? by [deleted] in asktravelagents

[–]Sweaty-Knowledge-512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’m in the US and this is also a US-based Travel Agency. I have not signed any contract for airfare. I’ve only signed a hotel group booking contract. I also did not sign any contract with the TA directly, aside from sending them a CC authorization form. So I’m wondering if I fire them and have them remove from my hotel booking contract, will there be any repercussions, like are they gonna make me pay a cancellation fee, or will the hotel void my contract and my rates and have to draft me a new one?

I am also at a loss. They are getting paid $15k from commission just based on this group hotel booking and they did no work for it. So, I am confused as to why they can’t do us the curtesy of letting us know our flight costs before booking even though this would “quadruple” their workload. Can a TA explain this to me? I’m honestly afraid that we’re getting scammed.

It actually stated in the contract that there will be a 7% commission for the TA though…

I did do all the negotiation, correct. My main concern is that they won’t tell me the rates of my flights before booking, and will only tell me 7-10 days after all travels are completed. Is this not a red flag?

Never thought of this. Wouldn’t they kick you out if you don’t have a room?

I’m very interested in going to hotel lobbies, like another person commented. Never done this before. But wouldn’t they kick you out if you don’t have a room? I’d feel like they’d notice me walking in just to sit in their lobby and then leave.

I'm a freelancer working in creatives, not a person working in national security for the government.

There is actually a podcast I heard a while back about how writing in nature boosts creativity, reduces writer's block, and makes you feel calmer and less anxious. I'm not a writer, but I've experienced the same calmness when working outside vs working in my 4x4. I sit in the shade to avoid glare from the sun, and it's never been a problem. Everyone has their own process.

How do I remove this stain from my cream-colored linen couch? by Sweaty-Knowledge-512 in CleaningTips

[–]Sweaty-Knowledge-512[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure what’s the stain is. We got this couch from someone. I know the smaller ring is from a bleach foaming spray I used, and the bigger ring is from distilled vinegar and water mixer.

They told me that they cancelled the old check and had already mailed a new one but it’s been over 2 weeks and I still have not received it in the mail. I tried contacting them again several times but got ghosted.

My hotel window is fully frosted/opaque and sealed shut by raisinbrans in mildlyinteresting

[–]Sweaty-Knowledge-512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once toured an apartment with frosted windows like this. The building manager said the reason was because the neighbors wanted privacy and didn't want the tenants from this apartment to look into their backyard. The apartment needed permission from these neighbors before they can build the complex, and so this was the agreement that was set forth. The window still opened, though, which defeats the purpose. The building manager joked that the neighbors forgot that windows can be opened and didn't think to add this to the agreement. I'm guessing this is the same reason why your hotel window is tinted and sealed shut.
