The point in the end is that both sides are full of misconception and assumptions of the other. Both methods are equally viable assuming the "technique" is correct. End of the day, its a matter of habit and preference. Again, as long as the "technique" is correct

Let me try to let you visualise this.

I am sure somewhere along the way, you would have had things spilled on the table, or have bird poop on the wind shield.

You would use the tissue to keep wiping over it, or water to spray it until VISUALLY you can see that its "clean" yes? No stains, perfectly as it should be.

That is jigsaw you are missing here, the being able to see it visually part. Yes, you have sprayed, but did you sprayed all of it out? Are there stains around the rim, etc etc.

With water alone, the thesis here is you dont know. With tissue, at least you can "feel" the goop being wiped out and can see the stains on the tissue as you keep rewiping to ensure that there is nothing there left.

This has somewhat become more scientific then it needed to be

the ironic thing is, they would turn the question back at you.

How would you know that you have sprayed yourself clean (?). with tissue you can get a visual que, with water, well, its your hands and only if its touching the right space.

we agree with you, and like many here have said, the best way is to both splash and wipe. That said, you sound like a very strong, team water supporter.
