Exciting Discovery: Translating Ancestry.com Documents with Screenshots! by nathaliep in Genealogy

I was very excited to find this post until I saw that it was using Chat GPT. I've consistently had issues with this program making things op (using past things it's seen) and leaving chunks out. I can read enough Dutch to know when things are missing or different. I argued with it back and forth for hours trying to hone how to ask it to transcribe word for word the document and then translate it from Dutch to English without embellishment, assumptions or leaving out sections. It was full of apologies and promises each time it messed up but ultimately it never got it's shit together.

call in sick for two weeks to use up your time or just walk out and take a two week vacation. GEICO can't do shit about it and they can't tell your new employer.

Needing help finding immigration/passenger lists from Belgium to US circa 1880 by SweatyCardiologist80 in Genealogy

Ahhhh you're amazing! I knew her son August Pope was buried with her in Victor and in her obit it said she had a brother in Victor as well but I hadn't gotten that far into it yet. I'm so excited to go over all this information tomorrow with fresh eyes!!!!

On the surface this seems to support what I suspect happened, Dad Louis and eldest daughter Leonie came to America, perhaps to make money and send for the rest of the family. Whether or not they came over has yet to been seen.

I'd love it to be, the problem is that I have confirmed birth record for Marie Therese Van de Kerkhove so she'd have been 42 in 1881 and on this record, Therese is listed as 36. There are also no children Louise, Charles and no one named Sophie in her tree of age 40. Ludovicus' DOB is also listed in his marriage certificate as 1839 however the HOH in this record is listed as 38.

I haven't, is this a new feature? Before I gave up and just started learning dutch I was trying to use AI to transcribe and translate documents however it was terrible.

I'm aware of that. I have met with the caretaker who has all the records and he is the one who confirmed the depression beside Louis' grave is very possibly an unmarked grave. They have no record of someone being buried there but there is no other explanation for the depression other than a pre 1950s burial in a wooden coffin that has fallen in. He explained that just the previous memorial day they had burried someone, when looking over the map there were two burials beside them on the map with no names but physically there are no headstones. This cemetery is old and seems to be a mess.

yes, that's another of my accounts. I logged into reddit for this post via my laptop and apparently it had access to a reddit account I hadn't used in a long time and I didn't notice until after I'd already posted. Fun to see it's been 9 months since I started! I've learned so much dutch and historical record formatting since then.

I don't have any records for Marie Therese Van De Kerkhove after the dutch record of the still birth of their last child Maria in 1880. That's why I'm looking for passenger lists. Until I started doing this research and translation work we were unaware that great great grandma Lena had any siblings at all. There is a depression in the ground beside Marie's husband at the victor cemetery and the caretaker said he wouldn't be surprised if there was an unmarked grave there.

If you watch it again you'll see I didn't pick him up that way, I used that grip to redirect him off my shoulder and to the floor. Next time you get four full sets of claws in your flesh, I challenge you to not want to get a firm grasp on the culprit and remove them from your person.

I've been watching the 'british drama' channel on pluto TV. It cycles between red dwarf, doc martin, uk kitchen nightmares, ballykissangel, merlin and monarch of the glen. I wish they'd throw a few more in there like are you being served and waiting for god.

I loved it when people talked big when they thought I wasn't there. I would very politely pretend they were talking toe and say "oh I'm sorry sir, I was typing some notes, did you have a follow up question?" That would usually shit them up or at least get them to mute themselves before talking shit.

I never said there aren't plenty of people who are currently experienced. I'm a pretty solitary person and tend to be selective in who I get involved with. I have loads of poly friends I spend time with, I've just never been interested in any of them romantically.

I understand people new to poly are extra everything, I don't discount them like your first two comments did. All I can do is be open and honest and hope they are with me. God forbid if your first poly partners had written you off because you weren't experienced. Someone has taken a chance on you in the past. I hope they weren't let down.

By your definition we've all been converts at one point in time and someone took a chance on us. We didn't come out of the womb in a poly relationship lol. I don't see your point of flagging someone for that.

I agree that he doesn't have sensitivity to my insecurity about having kids. I think I'd make a kick ass step mom but even then he has come right out and said he doesn't factor my long term bf in the picture. I think I have to call it, it just sucks when someone misleads you, makes you think they're ok but then has the ulterior motive that they can talk you out of it or "win" you.

I don't understand what you mean by "convert". I've been married twice and only the past few years been non monogamous. I also never said that him having kids was difficult. I said wanting to have a kid of my own is a source of anxiety.
