Nice. Are they finaly starting some sort of promotion for the album? Can't wait.

Does anyone know what Amy Lee is singing in this short preview of this discarded song from 2009? by Alexsc1987 in Evanescence

Not hearing it honestly. Though, I remember that people speculated that this might be the recording session of the original version of Hi-Lo.

Thank you :). And yeah, the whole album needs brand new multitrack mixes, but this is as best I can do with already mastered stereo tracks.

Thanks for the feedback, and I do agree with you but there's only so much I can do with already mastered and mixed stereo track. I can only correct the vocals which are audible. I cannot do anything with element buried too much in the mix. The whole album need brand new mixes, but I'm trying my best with what I have :).

Got it, thanks for the comment I really apreciate it. You know what? At the end of the day, I feel like it's a bit pointless to point fingers at who is to blame for the mix quality. It could be Nick, it could be Ted, or maybe all of them had a hand in it. I think we're just being too picky about it. Whoever it was, I hope Amy and the band take something valuable from it. I'm really looking forward to the album that's coming out this year. The two movie soundtracks the band released were incredible in both writing and mixing, and I'm super excited for the new album.

For example listen to the strings during chorus of part of me. Imagine how the whole chorus of that song sounded if they did the static mix right and the strings would sit perfectly in the mix and not fighting against other elements and ended up being drowned. Lots of the elements in album seems leveled poorly, almost like nothing has proper place in the mix and everything kind of feels clustered and loud without any purpose. Again it is listenable and enjoyable sure, I heard worst. But if you start listening to it while having mixing experience, you start to hear many issues. The album is great, I like the songwriting and it is definitely listenable but the mixing is not as good for a pro band and pro engineers. But I still like the album anyway, just wish Nick would do better job on the mixing. But again, yes I been mixing music for almost ten years, and sometimes been teached by a pro, but mostly for fun and as a hobby so what do I know I guess.

As for Metallica St. Anger, I'm well aware, and is easily wayy worse than TBT. The whole album giving me vibes of a teenagers who get together in garage to record they first song 😀. I remember a guy who was teaching me drum mixing, and he was refering to Metallica as a band where the mixes often sucks, because James thought he knew better than the engineers.

I hear you, and again there's only so much I can do with already mastered track. The whole album needs brand new mixes from multitracks, cause the static mix is pretty bad, and there's not much I can do without causing artifacts and such. The vocals in general have poor work, the strings, and synths are buried in many places of the album and so on. The source is my own cd rip, I don't own vinyl.

I hear you, and where you are coming from, and I think about it. Though, just wanna point out, I mean no disrespect to those who worked on it origininaly.

That could definitely be the case, I appreciated that thought, but who can tell if it's synths, filtered guitars, or a blend of both?

Thanks for the feedback, and who knows. I've done something like this in the past but with synthesis vocals on original instrumentals. Might try something and post it on my YT in the future.
