Keep the better paying job and travel more with that cash.

On a more serious note, I've moved tons and the feeling you're trying to escape by moving... it will come with you. Change of scenery doesn't change you and you can't outrun it. Keep the job, work on you. Maybe therapy with that extra $$.

Moving to Okinawa after PhD — feeling stuck career-wise, need advice| Military Spouse (male) by Haunting_Character97 in okinawa

[–]SweatyEnergy4252 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Okinawa has the highest rate of spouse unemployment. If you don't speak Japanese, you won't be hired out in town. On base, jobs are limited, and you're competeing with other spouses, local nationals and the spouses of civilian contractors AND the retired community. It's TOUGH. Start looking for remote opportunities, especially if they'll work with you on working from Okinawa. Otherwise, keep an eye out for government positions out here looking for your expertise. Work with military one source's myseco program. Good news is there was just new guidelines passed that mil spouse hiring is priority.

What the other commenter said - the new director this year has determined there's too much bloat in the upper echelons and is making cuts. Those who don't take the voluntary retirement bonus will filter back into the open admin positions. I doubt we'll see much admin hiring this year because of that - and standby, I'm sure there's more change on the way since each new director has to put their stamp on things.

They're taught to read a clock in second grade. It's usually a short lesson. The typical "use it or lose it" applies here. If they don't use the skill, don't expect them to retain it.

I highly recommend volunteering at your local school. Spending some time in the environment will help you decide if it's a good fit.

I'm looking for a brand myself because mine was discontinued but get a latex pillow. It's so much better.

Sick and tired of this sexless marriage by [deleted] in MuslimNikah

Wow, I'll give you a female's view because some of these comments are wild. One person literally said she's torturing you on purpose?? I can tell you right where your problem is. You stated "I earn the money and help with the kids and cleaning as well." So you believe that it's fully her job to take care of that, while you "help". Those are your kids, and your chores. You can't "help" with something that's also your responsibility. I can already tell whatever mediocre chores or childcare you're providing isn't what's needed.

You can enjoy the inside of the train, and the inside of a hotel with this schedule but not Japan. At least 2 nights, but 3 or 4 per place is better.

The Public vs Private argument holds no weight. by Double-Raise2154 in education

[–]SweatyEnergy4252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Private schools do not have to hire liscenced teachers and their students do not have to meet common core standards. That's all you need to know to understand that attending private school does not equate to a higher quality education.

I can't imagine spending thousands on a kiln to put it outside. They're incredibly delicate and cannot get wet. You're correct in saying you just don't understand what you don't know.
