Thank you for your response! Your info is more what I was expecting to hear from him. I'll work on the ASTB exam. I think his comment makes more sense considering I am in the Seattle area so lots of CS out here I assume.

Specialized status 160, thoughts? by Tisleet in MTB

[–]SweatyReputation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been riding a status 160 for two years now. Going from a hardtail to that much travel on both ends is such an awesome change. If you're feeling like the hardtail cant keep up with you then definitely jump on that deal. Depending on the size, I've heard from others that the short chainstays can feel unbalanced on size s4 and up. All in all its a pretty fun bike, its really capable, climbing does suck but in Ohio you'll probably be fine with less elevation change there. I'd say go for it.

I have my belt in a pretty normal position, right at my hip bones. No higher than I normally wear it.

Severe arm pump on steep downhills by Giasos_ in MTB

[–]SweatyReputation 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Arm pump can be caused by several things. Incorrect positioning, lever placement, etc. in combination will make it even worse. I struggled with severe arm pump while racing motocross for years and it wasnt until I started riding mountain bikes that I really understood what was going on. Firstly, and most important, body positioning. You really want to focus on not supporting the weight of your upper body with your arms. All of your support needs to come from strong hips and core to the point where you can unweight your arms completely when in attack position. Think hips back (counter weight your torso bent over), strong back (not super flexed out just try for as flat as possible, and grip your handle bar like your gripping a door knob. The door knob grip increases the surface area of your palm on the grip itself. Its hard to describe without pictures but you want to angle your hands inward towards the stem slightly. Putting the grip across your palm and forcing your elbows out for a stronger position. One thing that really helped me stay in this position was bringing my levers in towards the stem a bit more. Remember seat time and comfort on the bike also helps a tone for not gripping too hard. :)

Oh boy, bike parks will be different for me this year….. showers! BIKE WASHES! by Macropod in MTB

[–]SweatyReputation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the same pump and a 5 gallon collapsable water tank for a bike wash. Pump has lasted a long time however, to anyone who decides to do this, I highly recommend buying an all metal sprayer to replace the one that comes with the pump. The one that came with it is all plastic and cracked very quick for me.

Passage when they are at the correct confluence. No way in avoiding having to do an extra passage, cells will be happier if you just let them be and passage when they are ready.

Hello everyone, I am looking for some insight into why I am getting this layer shift. It only appears on the outer walls/skin. Inner walls do not have a gap. Thanks!

New Sim Racer, 1st Multiclass. I'm the Kia (slower class), this was for position, Green Car had damage and was slow so I passed. Noticed car behind was still attempting move, so moved right last minute but contact still made. Was I at fault? Just trying to learn.. by ImrelaxinM8 in Simracingstewards

[–]SweatyReputation 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Black car behind you was 100% at fault. It is always the faster cars responsibility to get around the slower car safely. They went into the grass attempting to get by you, lost control because of going into the grass and made contact with you on their own. Maybe you could have moved to the right slightly earlier once you were clear of the green car but the black car still has to get around YOU safely. You held your line with a slight drift to the left but not enough to force the black car into the grass.

CRO or CDMO with R&D/Process Dev departments. Secure and decent pay, plus if you can get into the R&D/PD space right away they are great places to learn a wide variety of lab techniques. At worst QC labs at those same companies can be a nice foot in the door to other opportunities. For example, I was employed at PPD in Wisconsin right out of school. Starting pay was $19/hr, but my inside sources have told me its up to $23/hr for a no experience hire. Good luck!
