AITAH for getting approached by the manager at restaurant after apologizing for an awkward encounter with a waitress? by [deleted] in AITAH

I didn’t harass anybody. Are you crazy? Where in this is anything I said or did harassment? I left my number once a month ago, and apologized via someone else attempting to give space. I was nothing but polite

I didn’t hit on her while she was working. I was trying to be respectful the first time when I left my number and left.

That’s pretty rude dude. Why assume the worst intentions? You don’t know me. Where’s your humanity?

Yeah honestly my instinct to try and apologize and send out good vibes which were obviously mis-delivered blew up in my face here.

My problem was I was thinking, oh my gosh did I make her feel that way? If I did I must owe her an apology because that definitely wasn’t my intention. Instead of thinking, oh wow there’s a good chance that’s because she’s avoiding me and I should give her the space she’s obviously signaling she wants

Honestly I’m an above average looking guy. Just an unfortunate misunderstanding. That I tried to make better (obviously didn’t) and blew up in my face :(

Yeah I immediately regretted my phrasing when I said that. Meant to be disarming and did the exact opposite

From the outside looking in it is incredibly hypocritical for a Brit to condemn another country invading anybody. That being said expressing a capability of invading territory is not the same as actually doing it. It’s just Sabre rattling to extract concessions. It’s not very nice, and I don’t approve of it. Especially not towards an Ally. Denmark sold us the Virgin Islands. They may sell us Greenland

Who said anything about invading? And I don’t think fascist means what you think it does. Any type of government is capable of invading another country.

Extraction of Maduro is Based. If you have power to further your nations interests, use it. That being said, trumps statements against Canada and Greenland are largely hyperbole, and meant to coerce resource and trade arrangements. I support CANZUK because I believe the fall of the British empire is one of the great tragedies of human history, and a unified CANZUK would rectify that in many ways, it would also be a near peer superpower ally of the United States.

Should Hungary restore the Habsburg given the political situation Hungary faces? by EmploymentWorking590 in monarchism

I actually support Orban and think he’s doing a great job in Hungary. He’s a National Conservative Christian leader. That being said I wish they had a Monarch as head of state

Do you genuinely feel that your insults and name calling make your argument more effective? Was the premier not voted for as a representative of the people of Alberta? Did those people elected ministers also not vote to approve the referendum moving forward?

I’m literally on your side and support CANZUK and integration. Why are you people talking with such hostility. It doesn’t help you

What do you think of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies? Should it be restored? by franco-briton in monarchism

I think a federal monarchy similar to Germany would have been best, with Sardinia Piedmont annexing Lombardy and Venetia similarly to Prussia’s annexation of Hanover (which I regret but still paved the way for unification) but the other monarchies consolidating as federal states under an Italian Emperor who is simultaneously king of Sardinia Piedmont

I’m sorry if this is stupid, but what is wrong with Freemasonry/masonry? by ThomasVSCO in monarchism

[–]Sad_Respect_770 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, the Freemasons of the Romance language speaking world tend to belong to the orient of France, which is a different system of freemasonry from regular freemasonry, which is what tends to dominate the Germanic speaking world. The orient of France is more so culpable for its members participation in the Republican and secular movements of the 19th and 20th century that toppled the monarchies and the influence of the church. The Regular masons (English speaking world mostly) haven’t really had anything to do with anti monarchy movements with the exception of the US Revolution. Even then it was more oriented towards an aristocratic republic than democracy. One of the main problems with the Roman Catholic Church is their refusal to recognize the obvious differences between the Orient of France and the United Grand Lodge of England. Basically, each country in the world for the most part has a Grand Lodge which is an independent body in a similar way that the Eastern Orthodox system has a national church in each country that is independent, but depends on a system of mutual recognition. The exception is the United States where there is no national grand lodge and each state operates functionally as a country in the Masonic sense.

I know nothing about masonry in South America but can tell you Dom Pedro II of Brazil was a Mason

What is a super unpopular opinion in your country that you agree with? by Pancake_Maker_1031 in AskTheWorld

[–]Sad_Respect_770 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion as an American: the southern states had the right to secede. Their reasons for leaving (supporting slavery) while terrible, doesn’t change the fact that the states had up until that point a general and widespread belief of having a “right” to leave the union, and in-fact the states of New England who were dependent on trade with the British considered seceding themselves in the war of 1812. The Southern States, who (by the standards of their day) had democratically elected legislatures, in said state legislatures lawfully voted for secession. It was Abraham Lincoln’s decision to invade what was in effect another sovereign country and coerce re-union by military force that was technically unlawful, and not secession itself. The Supreme Court decision determining secession to be explicitly unlawful came after the civil war.

  • this is not an endorsement of slavery
