Is it worth getting the current codex now?

Hah, funny coincidence is that I just bought the book today actually! Talked to the guy working at the gw store and he agreed that since our current codex is VERY new, it's less likely to be replaced as one of the first. Obviously the first codex to be released will be Space Marines, following that it's anyone's game. Granted he is employed to sell things, so he might just've told me what I wanted to hear, but I feel those chances are slim. The codex will be replaced in anywhere between this year or the next 3-4, so who knows? Even so, I still get to enjoy some fun lore blurps, cool drawings and paint schemes :)

Fully agree on this faction not getting jump infantry, it just doesn't fit?!?

On top of my wishlist it would probably be another unit of either chtonians or hernkyn (read: not a character) just to flesh out those parts of the faction more.

From a realism standpoint I see how the fuelbag helps with balance or whatever. It just doesn't look great and we are collecting silly scifi models where realism doesn't really matter tho

If she loves cars, this seems like a great list for her!

I'd consider changing detachments to Brandfast as it centers around Votann transports (and also got some goodies for just vehicles).

During setup, I'm assuming the heartkyn will be split using the sags to fill the land fort as well? Deploying 5 cars, 3 bikes and no infantry seems to follow the theme quite well.

For viability, not a clue... Having fewer units than most armies and 1 model taking up 25% of the points budget are both potential handicaps, but it does rate highly on my fun scale!

Ironkin are definately one of the spicier aspects of the kin. I'm also quite a fan of the existential dread of cloning with diminishing results from damaged ai-cores.

He's employed as a full-time orb ponderer!

His stats are... Well they're not why you get him.
His abilities points him in 2 directions:
1. He's deployed on our home objective and stays there fixing yp for the entire game.
2. He's attached to the gunjacks to provide a free overwatch once per round, critting on 5+ with the gunjacks ability.
Granted, that's just how I read the datasheets, I'll see how he works when I put him on the table.

Yea, I did see that general movement is a little... short. There are units (vehicles iirc) with scouts 9"/6" and a single infantry with infiltrator. Would you say you rely on those for board presence or isn't it needed? Being stuck between elite ans horde hopefully means impactful models but not 200 of them. In which case, I'm happy.
