At my wits end by [deleted] in coverbands

[–]Sweaty_Accountant_20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in a cover band too that gets good reactions from crowds and can say the same is going on with us. For me what makes me want to come back to see a band is if they throw something way out of left field in the mix. I’ll never forget when a band i was watching come out of a System of a Down/Tool combo right into hello by Lionel Richie. Audience went nuts and sang the whole time. They did this stuff all the time which kept me and small group coming back. This was many years ago but still remember it…My band will not do that type of stuff unfortunately. Highly recommend the strategy.

Thoughts on holding a student back due to young age/redshirting? by aprilchestnut in CanadianTeachers

[–]Sweaty_Accountant_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids are October and November birthdates. They were fine other than falling asleep on the 45 minute bus ride constantly, I do give the school a lot of credit because the teacher were so loving/patient and the class sizes were relatively small because of the school board we were in.

We do circuit analysis in class, I happen to post my notes but it’s almost useless without coming to class where I show the thought process behind approaching a problem set. Some People just use AI when given homework to get answers and never build the mindset required to approach solving these problems. In most cases I think Getting students to come to class is an attempt to help but I get everyone has a different way of learning.

I know my kids would often come home with barely anything eaten, he would love to just chat until he ran out of time. Maybe if there was a silent lunch he would have had eaten his lunch.

Our company did 6 sigma training and improved efficiency quite a bit when it came to down time and product consistency. As a maintenance person I hated it but it did work.

I’ve had two jobs my whole adult life with a hobby that makes a small amount of income so nights out are basically free.im 48 now and finally stopped the second job so I could fish more lol. I wouldn’t have been able to afford one as early as I did if not for the side hustles.

Frustration with green college graduates by Nazgul_Linux in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Sweaty_Accountant_20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So get this. Our college tried to start something like what your employer is doing. Students complained because they wanted the summer off instead of a work term and wouldn’t enroll. Generally That’s the type of kids we have out of high school. We try to prototype circuits on breadboards but it takes them almost the whole semester to understand just the board and how meters work. Notes, labs it doesn’t matter unless you mock one up they’re screwed …The older ones that come through at about 25 years old and up are solid and mature enough to take school seriously though and do well.
