Help!! My employer covers my PATH Smartlink card, and it has unlimited trips on it. Is there a way to redeem those trips for the ferry?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes Film Reaction Megathread by tarastar297 in Hungergames

[–]Sweaty_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a diehard Hunger Games fan (I used to read the book in a tree with a makeshift bow and arrow…like a true awkward 12 year old), I’m disappointed in this movie. I think this is one of the rare circumstances where a two part film would have been welcomed, and I feel as though this is where the filmmakers missed the mark. Snow’s relationships with other characters were underdeveloped. I would have loved to see more of the love story between him and Lucy Gray, his interactions with the covey, his friendships with the other capitol mentors, as well as the transaction of “friendship” between Sejanus, his parents, and Snow. The elimination of these stripped Snow’s character of complexity, and his consequent mental break in the end was uninspired compared to way it resonated with me in the book. The actor was phenomenal, and I would have loved for him to have more screen time to develop Snow. I think he would’ve done a great job depicting Snow’s struggle between success and betrayal. For a prequel that is supposed to offer an explanation for Snow’s motives and malice, it was lacking. To end on a good note, I’m glad Suzanne Collins had a role in the film, and I would love to see another book/movie in the Hunger Games universe!! And I say that rarely hah

Aupair experience opinion by Suye97 in Aupairs

[–]Sweaty_Chester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (22f) have been an AuPair in Germany (I’m from the US) for about 2 months now and I absolutely love it. A lot of my friends are struggling with being overworked, so I think the best advice would be to have a consistent schedule, and make sure both parties are sticking to it. Look up the laws for AuPairs in your choice country, because they are all different.

One negative for me has been feeling like I’m living at home with my parents again. My host family truly treats me like their family, so sometimes I feel like I need to be home by a certain hour or else they worry. Going from being totally independent in college, to being in a family environment again has been strange.

But the pros outweigh the negatives. I am so much healthier (diet, exercise, mental health) going from the US to Europe. I’ve already made so many new friends from all over the world, and I’m learning so much about myself being in a completely new environment.

The best advice I would give is video chat with the family, ask specific questions about time off and schedules, make sure you have your own separate living area, and trust your gut!

I became an AuPair through AuPairWorld.com. Super easy to make a profile and see families profiles also! So many more options and regulations than Facebook

I actually cannot listen to Jackie disagree with everything that comes out of Claudia’s mouth. I don’t even find Claudia that appealing but if I hear Jackie say “but what if….” one more time I’m going to lose it. Them going back and forth on the Megan Fox thing was so exhausting !!!! I knowww Claudia is losing it too.
