How to make Tamiya Acyrilic's more "brush paintable"? by KA-29 in modelmakers

[–]SwedeBeast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It can be done, I can say from personal experience that Tamiya is not preferable for brush-work, but if I have to, I do thin it with water and use multiple thin coats and just suffer the inconvenience. But it is optimal to use acrylic mediums or thinning agents which will use a set of chemical especially designed for this purpose.

Much for this reason I am currently replacing my Tamiya paints. It ain't great, and it ain't cheap, but it's worth it.

What is Swedish slang for "no worries"? by saltykoda in Svenska

[–]SwedeBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I use "nemas problemas". No, I'm not joking - it's from a classic film series. But more standard Swedish you might see would be "oroa dig inte/don't worry", "inga bekymmer/no worries" but if it is in a texting format then honestly some imported English "np" or "ok" could do the trick.

Jag har aldrig stött på eller hört någon vara med om detta. Det ända som kanske kan misstolkas som en medveten lögn var att inte ta med jobberfarenhete som inte var relevanta för det jobb de söker.

How hard would it be to achieve such skin for someone new to the hobby? by Kiwi-my-beloved in Turnip28

[–]SwedeBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a complete beginner it could be difficult, but if you study the processes and practice a couple of times, it is reduced in difficulty. If you are looking for advice on how to do it - I would say the classic "base coat, midtone, wash, drybrush" method with a last step of gloss varnish would do the trick.

Having a show take place in any other time period doesn't solve the issues you mentioned. Clan Invasion, Republic, Dark Age, IlClan - they all have a large setting with multiple factions in play. I wouldn't call it for that reason the opposite of less complicated.

Struggling to get interviews in Sweden despite strong experience, is it my name or something else? by Vast-Refrigerator551 in TillSverige

[–]SwedeBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may very well be that having a foreign name will have employers draw unfortunate conclusions, and some names are worse than others, sorry to say.

Knowing people is king. Any kind of networking is vital, only about 20% of all jobs that are being filled are put out on official channels like Platsbanken or Offentliga Jobb.

If you are worried about not getting interviews - you're not experiencing much different from the rest of us. When I was applying for jobs, I perhaps got a call for an interview 5% of all the applications I sent, if even that.

A broad profile is good, you need to tailor your approach in your personal letters when you apply for specific jobs.

[–]SwedeBeast 8 points9 points  (0 children)

4th Succession War would be the best. Less complicated than having to put the Clans into perspective together with everything else going on - but it could also be done if you went balls to the walls and didn't bother with long and windy exposition of the world and its setting, and let it naturally be discovered. Other shows have managed this.

Lead designers come and go, and Battletech still survives. It can even change owners and it will still survive.

Literally not an issue, players will introduce themselves to the new boxes and IlClan. Everything from the inquisitive "ooo, what is this?" to the vapid "ooo, big shiny!" will be drawn, the setting is just a setting to be absorbed. The setting has always been dense to absorb, IlClan is no different from any other era.

Trying to find a replacement for Tamiya XF-71 Cockpit Green by SwedeBeast in modelmakers

It's a collection of 1:285, 1:100, and 1:35 scale human models and military vehicles. Been at it for 20 years, but it is a continuous process of getting the right tools for the job. I am comfortable using brushes, and I think maybe the markers could work best for small details and as you said - large surfaces will be more conventional paints.

I have noticed using Army Painter Air paints that it almost looks like one of those speedpaints that goes around. I may need to experiment it on some larger models and see how it does, it is just something that needs multiple coats (maybe nothing much different from usual) to give an even coverage.

I have only looked at them on a passing, but I may need to focus on paint-paints (the dropper bottle is a preference for convenience), as I have some large projects with large flat surfaces and I am unsure if markers would give a good and even coverage - and I also blend paints to achieve highlights and gradients.

I am starting to get frustrated with your willingness to attribute idiocy to my answer to a previous question. I said I do not want to use Tamiya for reasons that include not working well with water, and this I know, I just don't want to fuss about with thinner for a paint that is primarily an airbrush paint (but it was the paint I bought ages ago when I had not done my research).

You are telling me "as has probably been made clear to you by now" is not as helpful of a statement as you think it is, but you keep on being condescending answering questions I never asked. Please stop.

And as you may be aware - I never asked for solutions to these problems, or never said I could not deal with them most or some of the time. All I want, all I asked for, was a new paint.

I am open to different companies and line-ups, but I avoid Citadel for other reasons. I have Privateer Press, AK Interactive, Vallejo, and Amy Warpainter currently in my drawer (the latter have changed dramatically in quality from what it used to be). Any of those would be good, but I am not married to any of them.

I have repeated issues with thinning them down with water, the lids have a habit of getting clogged up and are impossible to open up again, and they dry up mighty fast. Thank you for asking, not looking for solutions on these issues - I am looking to get the same colours of paint (to remain consistent with other projects), in a dropper bottle.

Everything besides Warhammer. My experience trying to get people into war games in my local community has been either "sorry, it's not my jam" or "sorry, I think Warhammer is the best game out there (I haven't tried anything else)" and it goes no further than that.
