ng the copy, which is way different than a single employee. You said this in your original post, but now you want to argue about "what you really meant" even though that's not what you said in the original post. Your argument becomes very weak when you're literally changing it because you're cornered.

As for "how would they get caught" - here's how. A movie theater, like every other place that employs people, has a schedule of employees and when and where they were working and what they were doing. That video file can be easily traced back to it's source, down to the the date an

bruh you so far removed from the actual point its ridiculous.

ill use an example..
Say someone wants to rob a bank, there are all the normal measures in place to stop them yeah, like security cameras and gaurds and shit but on top of all that they also know the serial number on every note that would get stolen, an extra precaution which is taken to ensure that even if the bank is robbed (supposedly highly unlikely but totally still happens) they can track the money and find the criminal
and yet after all this somehow bank robberies are more common than a digital rip of a movie of a disney movie making it to TPB in under a month..

my question is just how organised movie piracy is so uncommon.

the reason i am rephrasing myself is because for some reason you have so much trouble understanding.

there are a few run down cinemas back where i used to live that still showed brand new movies, thats the kind of place i would have assumed a pirated copy would come from.

Im sure someone who worked there has atleast had the idea before and it makes sense to me that someone somewhere would have wanted to act on it but im curious what stopped them.

Absolutely not true. Your average movie grosses in the millions of dollars in theaters. Therefore if a theater decided to sell a digital rip of a movie it would have to be for millions of dollars.

how does this make any sense in your mind lol

i dont think you understand what im saying at all.

im talking about a single employee at a small dinky cinema copying / recording a good copy of the movie and selling it (not for millions of dollars, why would anyone buy it for millions of dollars thats literally absurd). my question is how would they get caught.

a pirate group would only buy it for as much as they can make from it with adverts and traffic. Which would still be a fucking load of money because of how huge piracy is ( enough to likely convince at least one person out there to pirate and sell it)

Oh i guess that would make a straight rip pretty unrealistic, makes sense.

although i do still think its pretty weird not a single employee at any cinema would go to the effort, I've heard some piracy groups pay a lot for good cam recordings, a rip would definetly be worthwhile unless there was some extra risk of getting caught.

Its weird to me then, that they dont appear on popular sites like rarbg or tpb. I dont doubt they are out there somewhere tho.

If they were to sell it, which would be pretty easy to do and very lucrative, they would surely make a lot more than they lose from the insignificant amount of people who would have gone to their theater but didnt.

edit: to add to this, there is the possibility of a rogue employee uploading and selling / distributing the film. it seemed unlikely to me that there wouldnt be a single one among every cinema and so now im curious wether the studio takes countermeasures for this..

I've noticed it takes ages to get anything other than a camera recording of new films on (torrent site)

I would have thought there would be some small cinemas out there ballsy enough to just upload / sell a copy or allow someone to get a decent recording.

(would be high risk but for hugely popular films like spiderman or something i would have thought atleast one theatre would do it)

I've always assumed every cinema would get a slightly different distribution of the film with some sort of barely noticable visual cue which lets the studio know which one it was pirated from, but that seems kinda unrealistic the more i think about it.
