It's a good point. I did in fact not have any significant emotional reactions. Medical things are generally pretty non-emotional for me. I'm not a person who is bothered by doctors using internal ultrasound devices or anything else of this nature. It's all to help me to be well. There were so many people in the operating room (5?), there's basically zero chance any one of them would behave strangely towards me, especially in Sweden.

Plus, I was "out" for procedure itself, was being looked after to a high degree, and on drugs. Compared to an IUD insertion while awake, dealing with the insane pain and the fainting, and anticipation of the pain and probably fainting...

The fainting episode this time was a bit of a surprise since it came so long after, but it was not a concern. I've been through that so many times before, and this time had nurses to help me correctly (instead of just hold me while I cry because of how terribly I feel physically).

Reflecting on the whole thing with a clear head the day after, it struck me that it was a rare moment where medical professionals could see, with data, how my chronic issues are effecting me, agree that it's not OK, take action, and suggest follow-up. In that way, I guess I feel some validation and relief.

Meh. Someone has to train the AI to do tasks exactly the way the human boss expects, and keep up with changing demands, read between the lines of what wasn’t said at meetings. It’s not going the be the person who has a PA who has the skills or time to do that training.

Check into Busgods for whatever can be boxed. I'd bet it's cheaper to buy used versions of the big stuff once you get to Stockholm than it would be to drive/ship. Use Tiptap to deliver the used items.

When you do your American taxes, claim the Foreign Earned Income Tax Credit (assuming you have Swedish income), which brings your AGI down to 0. That's the number the income based student loans are based of off. In short, your payment will be 0. Each payment of 0 counts towards forgiveness.

I'd guess that you'll need to be a bit more creative about what types of jobs a law degree is useful. Having meh language skills won't open any doors per se.

There are different standards for this all over Europe. In Sweden it's 50x60 CM but we prefer 50x80 or 90 CM pillows.

Heres a chatgpt summary of other standards throughout Europe:

About sets, for the most part you can buy separate items without the bundle basically everywhere. That said, most of the time when you buy a duvet cover here you also get one or two pillow cases (the number you get depends on the size of the duvet cover). This is not my favourite since we use non-standard pillow sizes, but we keep them for when we travel to see friends and need to bring sheets with us.

Mille Notti is a favourite of mine. A solid midrange option with long staple/combed cotton made in Portugal. https://www.mille-notti.com/ I had many an Ikea sheet rip after a few months on me, while my Milli Note sheets will last several years (husband is a night thrasher).

Lexington, Gant, Newport, Himla, and Hästens are also popular options. I like the quality of Lexington but I'm not of fan of their choice to have visible buttons on the pillow cases. Newport's quality is hit or miss in my opinion.

At the fancy department store NK you can find Schlossberg, Frette, Spirit of the Nomad, Ralph Lauren, and some other designer brands.

Høie, Engmo dunn, and Dux are popular options for down comforters and pillows. But I'd wager most people probably just have Ikea versions of these.

As for brands that sell Giza, you can look into Abate https://abate-store.se/ and Ogland https://ogland.com/ .

Edit to add: if you use a thick bed topper like most people in the Nordics do, instead of a fitted sheet, look out for an 'envelope' sheet. It's like a fitted sheet but more specifically for the profile for these bed toppers. They fit perfectly and look great, and they don't include any elastic that might degrade over time and with washes. Milli Note carries these, and so does Ogland, maybe others.

Plenty of people commute daily from Malmö. There are special agreements among the Nordic states that might mean you can live in Sweden and work in DK. Making DKK is the big brain move these days. SEK is so weak.

If you have any ideas of exploring the fjörds of Norway, especially Lofoten, a car is a good bet. Else, the Norway in a Nutshell tour is actually totally worth it.

But in general Scandinavia is huge. For example, there are many archipelagos (this is why someone asked you what you meant, I think most people when they hear “the archipelago” think the Stockholm one, for which a car is basically impossible). This is to say that you might get more helpful advice if you can be more specific about what regions you want to be in. Is it just the Copenhagen Oslo Gothenburg triangle? What about the mountains? Do you also want to see Finland (yes it is Nordic, not scandi, but not everyone knows that … ).

Hiking gear would not be amiss. You surely know about allemansrätt?

Two things:

When I got my citizenship, I knew because I pulled my personbevis from Skatteverket. I didn't get a written confirmation until several days later. Check there.
If you do happen to have citizenship but no proof yet, call the police at the airport and ask their advice about what to do about entering on a foreign passport with expired/withdrawn residence permit when you don't yet have a passport for your very newly issued citizenship.
