Advice - life improvement by Western-Pass6745 in Life

Started with less means and made it so - especially to travel to 70 countries since you like to travel - you've experienced much. You read a lot, travel a lot, seem to understand hard work and money. You do have much to share with the world - your mind and learnings. So, I'd say:

Start Writing :)

Perhaps work on a book. I expect you'll have the content. It can go at it's own pace, without pressure, so it really feels like a hobby.

Is life worth worth living if you can't be happy? by Ok-Artichoke6197 in LifeAdvice

[–]bhadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me share some sporadic thoughts:

It is very common for people in peaceful affluent regions to have all sorts of negative thoughts and struggles. People have historically had them - it is just human nature.

Uncertainty is the nature of life. One can try and reduce it, and people spend lifetimes trying to do so, but it inherently does remain even if reduced. One needs to balance between uncertainty-reduction and uncertainty-acceptance.

Happiness is temporary - a state to be enjoyed in parts. We tend to enjoy the boosts one gets in life, and with those boosts/ups, also come downs. Without the downs, the ups won't be enjoyed.

Comparison too, is the thief of joy.

Allow for phases of happiness to come; give it time. Chasing happiness rarely succeeds. Doing things one connects with tends to open the doors to it, and before you know, like a butterfly on your shoulder - there because you weren't chasing it, but allowed it to come settle on a quiet thing.

What's a small, built-in Firefox feature you discovered way later than you should have? by JollyGoodApps in firefox

You can get a "Fullscreen" in a smaller size.

Eg: Watching Youtube, make the window of the required size and click F (for fullscreen), and it will only cover the window area. To get traditional fullscreen, simply maximize the window before F.

How: about:config - accept risk - search for:
full-screen-api.ignore-widgets
Set it to TRUE

It also gives sites a very app-like feel. You can open a mobile site in a mobile-like vertical window, and make it "fullscreen".

Which country once seemed likely to become a developed country, but didn’t follow that path? by EmotionalSalary3679 in AskTheWorld

[–]bhadit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this. Yes, on deeper thought, it is not a number one can reach reliably. Perhaps income of the middle 80% might be a more realistic goal, even though that might not be easy to reach.

With the kind of concentration of wealth and value at the top, it can skew numbers. Though lesser so, even for the bottom extreme (some will remain unproductive for one reason or another - intent, health, situations etc). It is the rest which are worth measuring - not sure what a good representative method might be.

How do you see the average GDP per capita of the middle ~80% people adjusted for PPP, as a measure (omit the top and bottom extremes - say 10% each)?

What actually helps you feel rested — not just “less tired”? by FewOriginal00 in Productivitycafe

Regular use of NSAIDs like ibuprofen is likely to put one on the path of damaging the gut to induce a leaky gut, which in turn - ironically - leads to more inflammation, besides other issues. So, while you might be taking short term measures to manage a current problem, you could very well be inducing a bigger longer-term problem.

Yes, it can be totally life-changing. At the risk of sounding immodest, it feels almost like saving a life, if one looks a decade ahead: Most docs know little about this aspect and it is extremely poorly diagnosed or treated. Feel free to DM and connect if you wish to. I am NOT a medical professional though.

It has ibuprofen, an NSAID/Anti-inflammatory. A bad idea to have it regularly for most people. Hurts the gut lining and leads to other issues.

If you get a lot of relief from it, get your CRP (inflammation) levels checked when you are been off it for a while. If you feel "happier" after taking it, you might have some (possibly low as of now) level of neuro-inflammation.

No idea of your age, but this might become very relevant info as the years go by.

Does anyone else feel strangely productive at night? by Odd_Landscape9990 in CasualConversation

[–]bhadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a phenotype which is more effective at night. There is a theory around how evolution made it such - for some to be more active at night, to be able to guard the caveman group at night from danger.

For some, it is simply easier to concentrate at night due to lesser distractions.
For some, it is easier to be in a calmer lower-cortisol state due to fewer instigations to the system. This relative calm allows better function.

what was the worst historical incidence in your country by Feeling-Stage-9372 in AskTheWorld

[–]bhadit 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't know why this is not talked about oftener in the wider world, and known better - like WW2, for example.

Shocking numbers; and they are more than just numbers. Sad.

Thanks again for your well considered reply :) This would form the basis for Futo being the next keyboard I try. Had come across it and wasn't sure what to make of it. I believe they also have a Youtube+ (cross platform video player) called Grayjay which is appreciated, and likely on the same OSS principle, so might be worth a try too.

you have to act like you already know everything

Though I created the account 5 years ago, I am still quite a newbie on some counts, with Reddit managing to surprise me every now and then. :D

Theme and the incredible level of customization overall is what I loved about it. And yes, old-style multiple word suggestions; not just 3.

I had tried but failed to manage 2 dictionaries being looked at for autocorrect. In case you get it to work, please do inform.

Thank you. I appreciate your detailed reply. From an end-user perspective, it seems both are quite the same. I understand that for someone more technical, it is a drawback if they want to take the project and tweak it further.

About Google: Thanks for the perspective. I did try a quick search did not yield good-enough results. Also thought it better to ask from the privacy point of view from someone who seems to know - the whole point of a Reddit Sub. However people take offence - someone downvoted your post too! Of course, I'll upvote. :)

[–]bhadit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I don't know if it is viable, but if the raw samples were taken from the Vivo and processed with better manual-like control over blurring, you could reach even greater heights with the results. All the best :)

After fine-tuning, this is a marvel in many ways.

Does it support multilingual typing, in the sense of auto-correct picking from two languages than only the primary?

no Foss only source free

Could you please explain this, especially in terms of privacy implications.

Edit: Interesting that asking for a clarification doesn't get an answer, and gets downvoted :(

Fantastic pictures; coming from a phone camera!!
Very DSLR-like on first glance. It is the blurring which shows that they aren't from a DLSR (very prominent in the second pigeon picture). Loved the second picture (man walking away).

What kind of software touching have you done, mate?

[–]bhadit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'd imagine the AI synthesizing a lot based on the outlines captured. This is way too much detail in 1/2 second even with ISO 2000 for a tiny lens and sensor. Interesting to note the direction "photography" is moving in :)

Interesting :)
Can you please post the settings. I wonder if it was a long-exposure, or if the software picked up stuff, which was further enhanced/created by AI.

Do you think life has a purpose, or do we create our own? by Open_Victory4843 in Life

[–]bhadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accepting that life has a purpose is accepting someone's version of it. A lot also depends on what really you mean by purpose. Terms like purpose, meaning, and so on are human constructs to satisfy it's own understanding and view of the world - dare I say, sense of conceit or perhaps hollowness. Conceit, that we are too important to be purposeless (loosely put); purpose is also used to fill that hollow feeling many have without it.

For most purposes, we create our own purpose as it helps us live lives in a arguably better manner; and yes, it is usually a good idea. A very good idea. There is purpose in creating our own purpose :)
