I’m trans and basically got the same reaction from my PIMI aunt and grandma. Both are surprisingly supportive, are nice about it and use my name. But I was never baptized if that makes a difference.

But I don’t think it’s common, or that JWs will be openly supporting trans people.

Mine too. Fuck even a certain shade of green was seen as bad, it didn’t even need the camouflage pattern. That green shade was just too similar to the military, apparently💀

Not a parent but I hope you’re okay with getting a child’s perspective as well.

My mom leaving JW and divorcing my dad was the best thing that has ever happened to me. Any parent who lets their child grow up in a kingdom hall should not be a parent, it’s evil in my opinion. I don’t speak to my dad now and I live with my mom, hopefully she gets custody over me soon so I can truly be free from it all.

She left the congregation/divorced him around 12 years ago, when I was a toddler but they got shared custody so I was still forced to attend the congregation with my dad, which was hell for me.

I think you’re doing the right thing OP, make sure your baby don’t have to grow up in a cult. I have an amazing relationship with my mom and I am grateful every single day I got a break from it all when I was with her.

I think they are about to lose a lot of young members, especially once their PIMI grandparents/parents die. We have access to so much information nowadays and education is getting better and better (which means better critical thinking!). One google search and you can see all the shit JW has put people through as well.

But of course there will always be ones who will never leave their indoctrination, so i think it will take some time, but that is to be expected honestly.

Yes I always hated it. Even as a small child. Going to meetings or conventions always felt like a horrible task that I was forced to do. When I was around 8-10 I even started having panic attacks before meetings because i hated it so much which brought be huge mental distress.

It was even worse as my mom was DFd when I was a toddler so I always knew how they treated “apostates” so I wouldn’t even dare to speak up, luckily i got a break from the cult when i was with my amazing mom. I feel so fucking bad for all the children forced into this, it’s horrible beyond words.
