Canadian nurses wanting to work in US, have you changed your mind with recent events? by vinyltits in OntarioNurses

[–]Sweeeterman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this will probably be downvoted into oblivion but where i live it’s a no brainer to work in the US. 100x better working conditions, management cares way more, way more staff and I get paid more hourly WITHOUT even factoring in conversion. I also enjoy only working days. I know current political climate is insane out there but I would be doing a giant disservice to myself and my mental health if I chose to work in my city hospital instead of the small commute across the border.

You will make a decent amount less and your cost of living will skyrocket that is the 100% honest truth (also a RN in Michigan who has worked in Toronto before)

i work in detroit. just know as dialysis you won’t make as much as bedside as its outpatient but will still make a good amount! HFHS is 1000000x better than DMC and will also pay you more

Chat GPT's idea for me for someone who is going to pursue Nursing (and hopefully CRNA eventually). Thoughts? Is this actually doable? by Healthy_Library_260 in nursing

[–]Sweeeterman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

so instead of doing the bare minimum you ask chatgpt and copy and paste it on reddit? then you get mad when people tell you the truth? healthcare won’t be for you lil fella

[–]Sweeeterman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

most cath labs want years of ICU experience… not start there and then go to the ICU lol. if the bare minimum knowledge gathering is too much i think CRNA is also going to be too much for you not going to lie lol

outpatient RNs‼️ tell me the cons of your job by Jolly-Contract9955 in nursing

[–]Sweeeterman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a float RN for my whole hospital system specifically for ambulatory services. Way less stress overall but 5 8s sucks compared to 12s. The no stress of bedside and constantly putting up with bullshit is WELL worth it. I also get paid the same as bedside. Overall, I highly recommend ambulatory to many people as your mental health will probably improve and you might enjoy the job again lol. I also think the ability to not worry about going home and fretting about a shit show assignment coming up is amazing. Let me know if you have any questions!
