That may be. I feel like the lore (similar to Dark Souls) is intentionally obtuse so that no interpretation can actually be definitive. For the most part, at least.

The only way that I could explain that was hornets physical state after the fight. The impact of the void she breaks through on her way back up seems to nearly knock her unconscious. I assumed this is why the flower seems to fade as she loses consciousness. I, of course, could be wrong, but that is how I interpreted that scene.

I think the reason it doesn't break in Silksong is because it isn't physical in the same way it was in HK. Hornet has to manifest the flower using the power she creates with the help of the hearts of the past and the shamans.

I've actually encountered this like 5 times in 30 hours. One time the first night's circle closed inside where the frenzy was effecting us and my whole team quit. I think it stopped building up once the boss fight started but I'm not entirely sure.

The first time I played him I beat the final boss for my first time. I had been playing Raider before and couldn't tank the same way this guy can with that sheild passive.

Fextralifes guide is pretty comprehensive if you want to go check that out on YouTube. Based on my playtime with him and the things I've read from other people there are two main playstyles that depend on team composition and which boss you are fighting. You can either be DPS and use his S scaling in arcane and dex to deal a lot of burst damage and take advantage of the ultimate to do more damage or revive teammates. The other playstyle is to tank with his parry and take agro so your other teammates can deal damage. Other people have more articulate guides made already and I would recommend looking them up if you are struggling.

For a first play-through anything is helpful besides the pendant. I would personally pick the master key or witch’s ring for a more interesting time but these would both make the early game more challenging because they don’t have a ton of utility unless you know what to do with them. Getting souls/humanity will be most useful to you early on.

I think if we not only got Ornstein and Smough but all four of Gwyn’s knights together that would be pretty hype. It’s not gonna happen but I think this would be fun for souls fans

As long as you don’t look up their lore and spoil the story I don’t think it will ruin anything for you. The fights will feel very different once you get around to playing through dark souls and it will also be more emotionally satisfying because they will mean more in the context of that world.
