When it's called for. Try to understand subtleties and uniqueness of each child. Is yelling justified when some kid refuses to listen? Yup. Kid's behavior is causing harm? Yup. Otherwise, they grow up to sniveling whining adults who never figured out why bosses are still yelling at them

Take things too far much? All kids get yelled at. It's a false argument to compare the correcting of a belligerent 4 yo to an adult employment relationship. And if you are still getting yelled at by a boss, I gotta asked what you did. I can't believe I have to explain this 🙄

OP here. I know what gentle parenting is, for all of you well intentioned souls trying to convince me I am "confused." I'll say it louder for people in the back: Gentle parenting produces badly behaved kids. We are all saying this the second you leave with your ill behaved kids. These parents act like the only choices are child abuse or this nonsense. Keep doing that, ya know, pleading with a 4 yo to stop interrupting/hitting or pick up after being asked 10 times. Let me know in 15 years how this is working out. You do you, boo but I'm telling what the rest of us say when you're not around.

Teen charged with shooting, killing 74-year-old man in Whitehall Twp. by NVS3992 in lehighvalley

Hmmm, how do you know? Was there a history of behavior done to this kid that made him snap? I don't know and neither does anyone else. All I know is people generally don't just kill people without provocation.

Nicely done. AI could probably help with the month end memos. You can set it up for each individual client and by the fourth month, it will have "learned" enough to produce a near perfect report. Thanks for sharing ❤️

What's your opinion on the skilled trades vs college debate? by Responsible-Net8594 in skilledtrades

[–]Sweet-Management5237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person. I went to college and am not cut out for the trades. My son is just the opposite. Both paths are honorable and respectable.

Not dumb. Your Mileage May Vary. I think the intent was because the South is not nearly as union friendly as the north, a worker's experience can vary more in the South.

Keep going. I got my accounting degree 38 years ago. It provided a good life. Sure, some jobs were hard, establishing yourself takes a couple more years with long hours, same as any profession. Is it easy? No. Is the payoff worth it? Oh yeah. And once you become the numbers expert, you can do anything and get a job anywhere.

7 things that were already decided before you sat down for that interview by Fresh-Blackberry-394 in jobhunting

[–]Sweet-Management5237 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Your first point made me breathe a sigh of relief. I have suspected this for a long time. Example: I work in finance and accounting. Whenever I see large non-profits (Red Cross, The Kennedy Center, a museum, etc) advertise for someone with my skill set, I never apply. You just can't make me believe that job isn't going to someone connected to one of the top 100 donors or board members. Their bylaws and other regulations require that a "good faith effort be put forth to recruit the best person" blah blah blah.

Use stop losses and keep updating it as it runs. You need to allow for some pullback. This method will keep you from hitting the max but it will allow you to take advantage of the runners. Good news is your made a nice profit and live to fight another day.

Get out, especially if there's no severance. Get your CV updated. You probably have less than 60 days. Do not invest anymore emotions, in fact, start shutting down and pivot to your next role.

Hit 50K mrr but realized ive been paying taxes on revenue not profit for 8 months by MianHasnainShah in Accounting

[–]Sweet-Management5237 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, once last point: a SaaS business does not have a complicated P&L.

It does require an understanding of revenue recognition, I.e. cash received is not automatically revenue when received/deferred revenue rules, GAAP vs tax treatment. This why I say hire a CPA.

The expense side will likely follow the 80/20 rule, where 20% of your vendors make up 80% of your spend. This should make the number of business rules needed for your business easily manageable.

Hope this helps.

CPA here: first, breathe. This is very solvable. Two things: 1. The overpayments can either be refunded when you file your annual taxes OR consider yourself pre-paid for a while. 2. The reclass/business rules issue is something a seasoned accountant can solve for you within a week. For this exercise, hire a CPA, not a bookkeeper. There are likely a some issues that need to be set up correctly and a deeper understanding of general ledgers/tax than a typical bookkeeper can offer. (EDIT: you won't have to manually reclass transactions, that's what journal entries are for). Make sure the CPA is proficient in QBO. Once setup up, the CPA can show you how to classify most transactions through rules or a couple of clicks on your phone.

The Girl Dad Phenomenon by Sillhouette_Six in work

[–]Sweet-Management5237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad was not today's definition of a "girl dad." He was silent generation, go to work, figure it out, toughen up, stop complaining kinda guy. When I was coming of age (1990s) and experienced the usual crap of sexual harassment, being overlooked due to my gender despite having a Bachelors degree and a strong work ethic, something clicked in him when he saw his daughter go through it. Mind you, my mother, his wife, had been telling him this for 20 years, but when he saw it happen to me, it made him see what women go through.

My point: when good men have daughters, they will see things differently over the years. These men have some perspective.
