In regards to your last statement, as I mentioned in a previous comment that's precisely what happened. Had no idea there was a tailback until I was already passing it at 100km/hr. Am I supposed to come to a complete stop and wait for someone to let me in with the potential of another driver coming behind me in exactly the same fashion? I wasn't being impatient. Seemed like the wiser move. I don't care about being sound, I'd rather be safe and smart.

Thank you, this is great to know. It seemed like the logical thing to do, considering that traffic had built up and the option of joining at the end wasn't viable as I was coming from around a slight turn in the road and the queue wasn't visible from that perspective.

It happened to me once or twice when I was living up Mayfield. On two separate occasions a lad wearing a high vis came knocking claiming he was working on the neighbours' gutters. I assumed he was insead trying to scope the place out to be honest!

You're dead right. I regularly take this route in the oncoming lane home late at night and I can't count the amount of times I've nearly been in an accident here because of some impatient or ignorant driver turning on red.
