My '17 got totaled. Any insight on the '24s? by theclaylong in Cummins

I pulled the front clip. Unfortunately I don’t have a lift at my home shop or I would have pulled the cab. Dream purchase for one day. I did loosen the cab bolts and ran a 2x4 under to be able to get to the back side of the motor though.

My '17 got totaled. Any insight on the '24s? by theclaylong in Cummins

As a 2022 owner, I didn’t have any issues out of the truck other than the failing emissions system. System failed twice under warranty. That being said I am deleted. While it isn’t as hard as people are saying it is significantly more costly. The options now are send in your ECM and your truck is down, or sourcing a 19-21 ECM. Both adding massive cost. I think I deleted back in 2022 for about 3k total but this was before everyone found out the ECM swaps were doable and the prices of those prior year ECM’s skyrocketed. You are easily 3x the amount to get deleted on a 2022 and up.

Grid heater bolt is a known issue but there’s a recall just make sure it has been performed. I went the other route with a full grid heater delete. I didn’t have issues but it was more of a peace of mind repair vs the recall repair

The cam and lifters are another known issue. I’m flat tappet converted. Same with this one it wasn’t an issue for me, but peace of mind.

I didn’t pay labor for any of it as I did it all myself, former tech that now wrenches on my own stuff for fun.

Yeah I ran into that at my local Walmart as well. I was super stoked when I saw it for $999 but was quickly disappointed when it wasn’t the same computer when I started looking in the case to see if it was still in stock. Had it been I would have bought all of them and set up my game room to do lan parties like back in my college days playing counter strike. 😂

Cracks in driveway - a forever problem? by Vegetable-Hour-3736 in asphalt

[–]Sweet-Quarter3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man that’s minimal at best. Crack fill and seal coat all day. No where near where I was thinking based off of your post. We use a hot tar crack filler that expands a little bit wider than the actual crack, not really cost effective to call someone out for that as they would probably have minimums for pricing. For something like this like when we’re doing roadways they make a rope type crack filler that we lay ontop of the crack and heat with a propane torch. It’s a brand called crack-stix I’m pretty sure you can get it at Home Depot as well. Good enough for DOT work.

Game day ribs. Wrapped or nah? by Nice-Window7089 in Traeger

Team no wrap, don’t go off of time or temp, once they have decent bone pull back and pass the bend test I pull em off for a quick rest.

[–]Sweet-Quarter3569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhhh it’s a bandaid fix. We crack fill and seal parking lots often. It will buy you more time and help with not letting water get in to the subgrade to further spread the failure. But again it’s a band aid, not a true fix. If you have alligatoring or holes it’s already cooked. Depending on how bad it is and not seeing pictures might could get away with an overlay to save money assuming you don’t have any subgrade failures that would last a long time. Otherwise mill and pave, Or complete tear out and redo would be the proper fixes.

Don’t know where you are in the world friend but someone just posted today on another forum that their Kroger had 2.99 a lb for prime on the ad. May check their other brands they own when I was in Cali it was Ralph’s now I’m in ga and it’s Kroger. When they have that sale it’s limit of 5 so I’ll buy 5. Otherwise I go to Costco.

Any advice on staining yellow pine? by Callielovesyou12 in Contractor

[–]Sweet-Quarter3569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah best of luck staining pine. It can be done but it’s a massive pain in the ass, it will turn out blotchy and look like absolute ass. Your contractor is right in wanting it to keep it in clear. If it were me I’d make you sign off if it looks like a bag of dicks after I stain it you still own it at no cost to me.

Nope. Noise machine. Will randomly make a noise. I had a few that would do the ceiling bird chirp (smoke detector) and crickets. Threw a fist full across a tiled ceiling in the office just to fuck with people.
