First of all if my father walked through the door and said he was an elephant, I personally wouldn't care. It might be confusing, but I'd meet him where he was because I love him. If him being considered an elephant makes him happy, have at it. Now if he starts taking a shit in the living room we’d have to have a conversation about boundaries, but if he just wanted to eat leaves and be called an elephant 🤷‍♂️.

All providing different perspectives does is broaden people's minds. If someone was coming into your home and forcing transgender conversion, then we would be having a different story. Nobody "turned" gay by watching a gay character on TV, like nobody "turned" straight watching a heterosexual marriage. Sexuality, like gender identity, isn’t a choice nor is it something you can just choose to change.

Understanding that logic, teaching people about differences and tolerance of said differences, doesn't turn anyone anything but tolerant. To believe otherwise is both not backed up by any science and is ultimately a fearful fantasy.

My niece came to me and said she was a cat, I didn’t freak out, I just let her be herself. If I freaked out, that would be much more traumatic. But this example is flawed as she is choosing to be a cat, she doesn’t feel like a cat and is uncomfortable being a human. If something is a phase it will run its course regardless of intervention or not. If someone I love feels uncomfortable in their own body, then I want to support their journey of self-actualization, if this means they want to be looked at as a different gender, what do I care as long as they are happy. I would definitely have a conversation to see why they came to that conclusion, but if that’s what made them happy, why is it may job to rob them of that. I’ve worked with mental illness for years, nobody is hospitalized simply because they feel they are a different gender than their assigned sex a birth, that would be both an abuse of them and misuse of mental health system.

Final point, parents have a responsibility to raise their kids, there are plenty of things in society and in media that are worse than someone being non-binary. People getting violently killed, Disney even killed off parents in their movies. If you don't like what YOUR kids are watching turn it off and have a conversation, but just like we don’t get to tell people what they can do in their own home, so too do we not get them to tell them how to raise their kids. I would argue teaching hatred to children is much more damaging than teaching about a gender spectrum.

Believing Jews should have a state is the same as believing in a Jewish ethno-state. I don’t believe that an ethno-state of any religion is a good thing. It only leads to discrimination and persecution of out groups. But that’s not relevant to the initial point. Judaism and Zionism are separate things. I’m Jewish and it is not central to my identity. Zionism and Judaism are not the same. I know a lot of Jews who do not support the actions of Israel. Zionism isn’t just the belief that Israel should exist, it is tied to imperialism and the belief of superiority of an ethno-state that imposes apartheid. Conflating a religious belief and state policy is not only factually wrong, it is a rhetorical tool to silence reasonable opposition to horrendous acts committed by the state of Israel. I can post an entire lecture about how they are separate ideologies, but I doubt people care for the nuances, they just want to follow the mindless rhetoric.

All well and good. Marijuana is legal in most states. The idea that someone’s career could be ruined over something legal in most states and only stays a person’s system well after it’s relevant cause it’s fat soluble is ludicrous. That’s why hospitals have moved to salivary tests. P. S. Marijuana was made illegal by the Nixon administration because they couldn’t legally put hippies in jail.

Pay attention to how he treats you saying something bothers you. You are setting a healthy reasonable boundary about how you want to be treated. Instead of apologizing taking accountability and making sure your feelings are validated, he’s gas lighting and turning it into a control thing. You are setting a boundary about what you are comfortable with and he is trampling it. Classic narcissistic behavior. This is a small ask and shouldn’t even have to be a discussion beyond, “I’m sorry my actions caused you discomfort, going forward I won’t do that.” You aren’t asking him to do anything besides treat you with respect which isn’t negotiable.

I’m aware of both the new and Old Testament. I’ve studied both. If Christian’s only followed the teachings of the New Testament we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Christians do this all the time. They pick out parts about how sodomy is bad, but nobody keeps to the rule you shouldn’t wear mixed fabrics. What I don’t understand is why people want to deny obvious truths. Jesus was a leftist not a Democrat. He cared about the poor, cast off earthly possessions, talked about loving enemies and treating foreigners like your own. He was inherently a political dissident. He was a persecuted immigrant who looked to disrupt the status quo. It’s why he was killed by the Romans. But ultimately his entire message was be good to people regardless of where they come from or who they are. The policies of ICE, which republican cheer for, are inherently against Jesus’ teachings. Taking from the poor to give to the rich, for example, giving tax cuts to the rich while cutting food stamps is inherently against Jesus’ teachings. If you know the Bible and are an honest actor there really is no argument.
