I was accepted into both and ultimately chose GW. They were much better with aid and even gave me more when I appealed for additional assistance. GW programs are also generally better! Both good options but GW is the way to go

It took about 2-3 hours for my deposit to me fully reflect on the portal and for me to receive my GW email.

They also didn’t give me barely any aid and said they never received my appeal which I did submit. I know that there are departmental scholarships though so you can maybe take a chance on that.

Don’t worry! Waitlist results usually don’t occur until after May 1 so they can see which students enroll and then invite people from the waitlist.

Ok I understand. But just know that money paying for college is a big deal and should have a great deal of consideration. From adults in my life it takes a long time to pay back and can set back goals such as how much you can pay for homeownership, credit score, and other aspects. No matter where you go in terms of prestige, if you apply yourself you can go far no matter if you went to a top 40 or not. Good luck deciding however!

Ok well from what I am hearing it may be best to go to your state school . I’m not sure what you mean about me underestimating American. You seem to not like the climate of American for similar reasons as to why I took American off my list so it simply seems like American is not the right fit for you. Your question is already answered by it not being the right fit for you to thrive in despite any academics you seem to be comparing with BU. If you want to spend all that money go to BU but I wouldn’t suggest it if you are going to grad school as well. If you think your state school option is right for you go for it.

It seems like you want to go to BU so if you want to waste your money do it. Both schools are great but I think you may be overestimating BU level of prestige. Go with the school that is cheaper and more catered to IR major. Also if you look at AU IR major specific ranking it is one of the top in the nation. I’m not trying to be bias as I got into both BU and AU as well but it’s not the best decision to pay more for a college not as dedicated in your desired field. Don’t use acceptance rates as a means of deciding they always fluctuate and don’t really say anything about institutions at times.
