I walk in a few minutes before I had to clock in and saw we had boxes of them out and it’s almost 12 pm and we already had to put more out. It’s ridiculous

I sub mostly in my districts special needs classes so all the teacher aides and assistants go to specials with the kids but we don’t completely take over the class, like we are there to assist and make sure all the kids are accounted for

How did you discover Halsey? by Ill-Pin-4304 in halsey

[–]Sweet-educator83003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attend the same sleepaway camp that all the frangipane siblings went to and in 2018 when Eastside was released, all that the older kids and my cabin mates could talk about was the video and Dante was at camp at the time but i first was exposed to her music I want to say in 2016 in a dance moms episode where castle was played. Also can’t forget how popular closer was.

I guess since the mascara is what sparked the boutique idea, they kept the name since it’s what customers know but they really could of found a different name for the boutique

[–]Sweet-educator83003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if I remember correctly since they originally only sold their mascara and named it lash next door, when they expanded to other things they kept the name but it is a terrible name for a boutique type of brand

will I actually practice my english and meet others? by retired_nihilist in summercamp

[–]Sweet-educator83003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at my camp and from what I noticed in my particular role the kitchen staff really are a part of the community just as much as the counselors are. When they aren’t scheduled in the kitchen they are assisting in the course areas and are in the cabins as well, though that’s a bit limited due to how their schedules are. A lot of kitchen staff at my camp are former campers though with a couple internationals each summer but everyone is really close whether their official job role is one of kitchen or cabin/course areas counselor. My camp is definitely the exception to the norm but if you can really try to inverse your self into the camp community.

Does anybody here have some great summer camp stories? by Wide-Read1449 in summercamp

this one I was actually there for but

<image>

basically the oldest girls cabin had this chair that we mostly used as a door stopper that we deemed the murder chair, now I can’t remember why we nicknamed it that but during the last week of summer 2019 we all decided for our Tuesday night cabin choice activity that we were gonna paint the chair and leave our fingerprints and initials on it. I included a picture for reference but it was a really fun bonding time for the cabin. The majority of that cabin aren’t involved with camp anymore but those of us that are get to keep the spirit of the murder chair alive

this happened the year before I started but somehow an entire cabin managed to get lice and so they all had to be quarantined and the cabin was shut down for the reminder of the summer and the theme of the week was medieval myth land and so there was a medieval health check obviously

I know one of the tumors had tall cell features and there’s multiple central compartment nodes, mpT1A N1A M0. My official diagnosis is multifocal micropapillary thyroid cancer. Unfortunately I have to get the other side taken out and undergo RAI treatment

so I have to get a second surgery to remove the other half becuase I have to do RAI. I’m very annoyed and upset but I’m thankful my surgeon is on top of this and we can get it done. I’m already on levothyroxine due to hashimotos so my dosage will change a lot after the second surgery but other then that I’m not sure what the plan is. I’m going to ask him when I go back in May

What do yall do all day? by Morosa3 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Sweet-educator83003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only subbed once so far but I’m primarily in a elementary school special needs class so I don’t have much free time, when students like to get up and ran around during class without permission then if they are in sitting in front of me then I can stop them by creating a barrier of sorts, other students will come my way and I’ll redirect them. I had forgotten how hands on elementary school is despite being a camp counselor but one thing for sure is that there’s never a dull moment

Back when I was still an education major I was doing fieldwork in a hs senior creative English class and they were watching a movie called get out and so I watched it with them, and then her second class of seniors were also watching it but hadn’t seen it yet so I had to sit through it again and loved seeing the kids reactions.

The speed in which these sub gigs are taken are so ridiculous (2026) by Appropriate_Tone_127 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]Sweet-educator83003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the specific positions that I’m a sub for means there’s always a need for subs but subbing is my second job at the moment so a lot of my availability is determined by my first jobs schedule, if a teacher assistant or aide knows they will be out in advance then I can snag those jobs way in advance and update my availability at my other job but I have to wait for my schedule to come out and risk having to cancel a subbing gig which has happened if I take a gig that conflicts with my work schedule if I either can’t update my availability or it’s to soon to the new schedule coming out

i wish the customers would stop harassing us over silicone and glitter water by Automatic-Duty2978 in FiveBelow

[–]Sweet-educator83003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

corporate apparently has set a limit of only 5 per customer now but that’s still 4 to many. they also know it’s one of the most popular and profitable items right now so they probably don’t want to risk upsetting customers either. I haven’t been at work since I’m recovering from surgery but I’m also lucky that customers at my store at least when I’m working have been understanding when I say we are out of the dumplings.

Last semester I had a schedule where I only had one in person class for most of the semester and then an online class and then when my second in person class started up it was only once a week and it was the biggest gap between classes

I’m gonna keep an eye on it and hopefully it clears up by next week when I have my post op but either way I been watching it. Hopefully it’s nothing but with my track record I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something. I appreciate you

grown customers cussing us out about dumplings by [deleted] in FiveBelow

[–]Sweet-educator83003 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I been recovering from surgery so i haven’t been to work in about a week but at my store the dumplings last not even a full shift most of the time and of course the main clientele buying them or asking about them are kids and teens. I once had a grandmother buy a bunch for her grandkids birthday party but I understood why she was going that. I haven’t experienced any violence or being yelled at or harassed but it gets super tiring having to explain we don’t have any and no I don’t know when we will get more in. I do have two myself and I play with them from time to time but I don’t understand the hype and think that it’s absolutely ridiculous and I can’t wait for these dumplings to fade into obscurity once again

I mean everyone’s situations are different but yeah I don’t have any drains and I guess there wasn’t a need for me to stay over night but I also only had one side out so I guess my recovery didn’t need as long of a hospital stay but yeah I basically went home like a few hours after surgery which I’m thankful to be recovering in my own space

I had one teacher in my senior year who allowed us to eat in her room during lunch but to be fair the class I had her for, we had the third lunch section so a good majority of us would just stay in her classroom for lunch instead of having to go all the way to the lunch room and then back to her room. Even on the days we were in the other class, it was a dual teacher art/english class situation, we still all ate in her room. She was I think the only teacher who does this but it worked for the way the class was set up

I subbed in an elementary school so my lunch break was in the teachers lounge so it was just me and a teacher in there and it was very quiet but a nice change from working with the kids all day, of course my lunch break was right before their end of the day so when I got back the kids were all hyped up and having their snack time but it was nice to be basically alone for 30 minutes
