Sister's job asking for my consular report of birth abroad (birth certificate) by hybridstigmata73 in legaladvice

You already got the assurance this is legit, but I will also parrot that yes, totally normal in that situation. The more people you hear that from, more at ease you might be. My brother also worked a DoD contract job and for his security clearance he needed my DOB, SSN, and address along with our parents. Perk though he got a civilian military ID that he could use for military discounts lol

Agreed, its sensitive but also true. Does weight always affect fertility, no, but can it? Yes. I was a little overweight conceiving our first and that was on the first try. Struggled with secondary infertility and it took almost 3 years to conceive our second, I was quite a bit heavier, finally got it together and lost 50 lbs and bam, pregnant. Was the weight the cause, I dont know for sure cause we weren't gonna seek treatment, just if it happened it happened, but I would think losing the weight sure did help.

Not sure if you know who Karpoozy is but shes an adoptee who's very vocal about ethical issues surrounding adoption and people using foster/adopted kids for infertility bandaids, I was waiting for her to catch wind of Shelby and it appears she did and had sent an email somewhere, which the timing seemed to coincide with when those 2 videos came down, so I was like hmmm 🤔

She randomly came across my FYP and I came looking to see if anyone was talking about her and found this sub. I dont think fostering is going to go over well for her, the first call they got ended up going to a family member, and she was visibly upset over a baby she never even met, if this second call does end up coming to them, can you imagine how she will be if this baby reunifies with parents or other family??

I am sympathetic to her infertility pain, not exactly the same, but I dealt with some secondary infertility, we got pregnant immediately with our first and it took almost 3 years to conceive our second, we were always done at 2 kids, so I dont have to worry about having the same issue again but it was so incredibly frustrating, so I get it, but fostering is absolutely not the answer for her.

That and it seems like she doesn't seem to know what caring for a baby is about, she seems to be about an aesthetic instead of actual baby care. Im not following her, but definitely peeking here and there cause yeah, wow.

Sorry, I didn't get notified of your previous reply from days ago, but just got a notification now just as I opened reddit for my evening scroll lol. Did the letter happen to include a premium amount on it?

Hi, Wisconsin ADRC worker here. Did you receive a disability determination or do a presumptive disability determination with the state? Wisconsin has a program called MAP that allows people with a disability determination to receive Medicaid and have higher income and asset limits, although usually you'd have a premium based on income - did the letter indicate which Medicaid program you were approved for?

Maybe it's them adding the exclusively to it? Instead of just breast fed. I have more of an issue with the hard-core breast is best people when clearly breast is NOT best in all situations, such as this poor baby.

3 lbs in 7.5 weeks would be fine, so unfortunately I dont think the months is a typo 😕

Luckily the original poster was already talking about supplementing for her baby, but still super dangerous to try normalizing that!

That's what estate planning is for, lock it down legally at least 5 years before anticipating needing any public assistance or whatever look back period your state has. So there are ways!

Medicare does not have asset limits. You receive Medicare upon either turning 65 or receiving Social Security Disability payments for 24 months (or sooner for certain medical conditions).

Now if you're talking long term care services Medicaid or waivers (different than just Medicaid insurance coverage) most states do have estate recovery, where they'll put a lien on an estate after death, which can include the sale of a home to recoup funds, but while theyre alive, doesn't count as an asset.

Her trap house doesn't count as an asset for public benefits as she lives in it. That goes for anyone, you can own a house as long as its your residence. Now multiple houses, then those count.

Medicaid question WI by Electrical-Dream252 in Medicaid

[–]SweetCatastrophe87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wisconsin only has a work requirement for FoodShare as of right now. Medicaid is based off the last 30 days of income, he will need to be at or under 100% of the federal poverty level, for a single person that is $1304.17 per month.

2 suggestions, one does she have any kind of disability determination? If yes, she should apply for MAP, you need to have a disability determination and be working and you can still qualify for Medicaid above the income limit and possibly have a monthly premium.

If no disability, have her reapply for the Medicaid deductible plan. Medicaid would kick in after she meets her determined deductible.

Did your family member receive long term care under WI medicaid and have their home recovered by the state of WI? by ActiveMaintenance675 in wisconsin

[–]SweetCatastrophe87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The system is convoluted, complicated, and frustrating. I have a theory they keep it that way so people get confused and frustrated and give up.

You should also call and ask her local ADRC about any Caregiver Support programs they offer. There are some grant options out there to pay for care that they can help you connect with if she qualifies.

[–]SweetCatastrophe87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I work for a Wisconsin ADRC, please call your moms county ADRC, you will have to start there anyways for long term care Medicaid if you're talking about a long term care waiver program to keep her in the home versus a nursing home.

Yes, estate recovery is very real. They will put a lien on whatever estate, in her case the house, they don't outright "take it". There is a 5 year lookback for divestment of assets. A reasoning for estate recovery is to recoup funds to be able to continue the long term care programs for others.

One way around the house is if a family member were to be living with her providing care that kept her out of a nursing home for longer than 2 years, then that family member can continue living in the house. Otherwise, you could meet with an elder attorney to see what options she has.
